1.      Fan marks the reinvention of Shah Rukh Khan. He plays the double role of superstar Aryan Khanna(Aryan being his elder son’s name)  and his fan, a small-town boy named Gaurav.This is his another  double role for SRK after  Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om.But very different. The two SRKs look nothing like one another.

2.      This is no ordinary double role. This is Shah Rukh Khan The Superstar versus the Fan. The fan’s makeup has been done by Greg Cannom who did the prosthetics for Brad Pitt inThe Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

3.      A film about the complex star-fan relationship has never been done in Hindi . Yes ShahRukh has played an obsessive character for the same banner Yash Raj’s Darr in the past. But playing both the roles of the star and lookalike fan…stroke of genius!

4.      It’s been a while since Shah Rukh Khan worked with an untried director. Yes , he didRa.One with Anubhav Sinha. But let’s not even go there. Maneesh Sharma’s films may not be your cup of tea—I loved Band Baaja Baaraat , hated Shuddh Desi Romance—but he is sure to furnish a fresh perspective to the SRK persona.

5.      Oh yes, and before we forget. SRK  also works with Habib Faisal for the first time.Habib who has written Fan ,directed such quirkly dramas as Do Dooni Chaar,  Ishaqzaadeand Daawat-e-Ishq. In other words Fan takes SRK away from his Johar-Shetty comfort zone.

6.      This is the only Shah Rukh Khan starrer before or after Chak De featuring no lip-sync songs.

7.      Shah Rukh has no romantic lead opposite him.  There are some interesting female characters in the film played by unconventionally appealing ladies Waluscha de Souza andSayani Gupta. But you won’t see  Shah Rukh romancing the ladies this time.

9.      To maintain authenticity  portions featuring Aryan Khanna, the superstar, have been shot in Shah Rukh’s bungalow Mannat. It is rumoured that members of Shah Rukh’s family and staff have also participated in the film.

10.  Fan is the solo release this Friday. Advance booking opened on Sunday. The response is very …SRK!
