Even as Shah Rukh Khan took time off to meet the MNS chief Raj Thackeray to clarify that his Pakistani co-star Mahira Khan won’t be in Mumbai to promote Rahul Dholakia’s Raees, he was all set to shoot a romantic song with the forbidden guest in Dubai and Morocco.
A well-informed source sheds light on the development. “There were two options before the Raees producers. They could either scrap Mahira’s role completely and shoot with another leading lady. This option was almost exercised when there was an unofficial ban on Pakistani artistes in Mumbai.A few newcomers were auditioned to co-star with Shah Rukh Khan. But then the Raees makers felt that re-shooting would entail huge expenses as Shah Rukh’s scenes with his leading lady were mostly set in chawls and crowded bazaars of Gujarat.”
After much deliberation the Raees team decided to go with the other option.
“They decided to keep her in the film but out of Mumbai and the film’s publicity. There was one song that still needed to be shot. For this Shah Rukh and the Raees will now fly to Dubai and Morocco where the song will be shot,” informs the source.
