‘The Good Place’ (2016–2020)

Rotten Tomatoes: 97% | IMDb: 8.2/10

This October, why not try a little bit of heaven to balance your viewing foray into the horror of hell? Hailing from The Office writer and producer and co-creator of Parks and Recreation, Michael Schur, The Good Place is set in the aftermath of the death of Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), as she wakes up in the titular Good Place. An afterlife like heaven, Eleanor quickly realizes she has earned this place thanks to a case of stolen identity, and she must hide her previous misdoings to try to save face.

Widely cited as one of the best sitcoms of the 2010s, The Good Place is a brilliantly funny and ultimately unique comedy with 12 Primetime Emmy nominations to its name. Packed with memorable moments, the series has a large die-hard fan base — one that can never grow too large as more newbies discover this genius. With 50 episodes across four seasons to enjoy, the best part of The Good Place is that, unlike a large majority of beloved sitcoms, this one absolutely nails its finale.
