Things picked up pace in the most recent episodes of “Heesu in Class 2” with a few unexpected turns. While Hee Su (Ahn Ji Ho) decides to switch from giving relationship advice to playing matchmaker, he makes little progress with his own crush. Meanwhile, a secret is revealed while two remain total mysteries.
Here are five surprises (some good and some not so much) from episodes 3 and 4. Did you see any of these coming?
Warning: Spoilers up to episode 4!
1. Seung Won and Ji Yu are already friends
This friendship comes as a surprise for several reasons.
First, the two seem to be from totally opposite bubbles in school. Despite typically keeping to herself, Choi Ji Yu (Kim Doyeon) is said to be the most popular girl in school, known for her top-tier looks, perfect grades, and for supposedly being wealthy (more on that later).
On the other end, Seung Won (Lee Sang Jun) is quiet and studious and seems to rarely hang out with others.
Also, the two are, for whatever reason, undisclosed friends, as in few people (possibly no one) at school know that they know each other, let alone that they are actually friends. They definitely give off sibling energy in their interactions, so it’s possible they’ve known each other for a while.
2. Hee Su is shipping the wrong couple
This might not be the biggest surprise to viewers, but it’ll definitely shock Hee Su when he finds out. Everyone at school knows Hee Su’s relationship advice is always spot on, but his matchmaking skills are not so flawless.
At the end of last week’s episode 2, Hee Su declares he is going to help Seung Won get his crush, who he is confident is Ji Yu. But here’s the catch: Hee Su also knows his crush and best friend, Chan Young (Cho Jun Young), has his eyes on Ji Yu, so his desire to help Seung Won is most definitely not selfless.
Not knowing the two are already friends, Hee Su repeatedly tries to give Seung Won his main character moment and pair him with Ji Yu, but he fails every time. Besides, with Hee Su simply not being cut out as a matchmaker, the failed attempts are also just because Seung Won has no desire to date Ji Yu, despite what Hee Su thinks.
In fact, Seung Won even confesses who he actually likes to Ji Yu. Seung Won casually (which is very in character for him) tells Ji Yu he likes Hee Su, not her.
This would be another big reveal, except it has become increasingly obvious who exactly Seung Won is crushing on. Seung Won has been playing along with Hee Su’s matchmaking antics just to spend time more time with him. It’s too bad Hee Su is completely oblivious to this.
3. Ji Yu has a secret identity
Chan Young and Ji Yu, the pairing that ironically seems to be making the most progress so far in this BL, first connected over a shared love of Summer, a singer who hides their identity. However, by accident, Chan Young finds out who this singer actually is: Ji Yu. This only makes the two grow closer, and he promises to keep her secret.
Many of Ji Yu’s classmates’ perceptions of her also aren’t the full picture. Everyone paints her out to be the queen bee of the school, born with wealth and a personality that doesn’t care about others. But it’s all gossip. One of the only people who knows her true character and background seems to be Seung Won.
4. Someone knows Hee Su’s crush
Dun, dun, dun.
Another twist revealed in episodes three and four is that someone knows about Hee Su’s crush on Chan Young, and they’ve been sending obscure messages to Hee Su, asking if Hee Su wants them to tell Chan Young the truth.
The person leaving messages for Hee Su somehow knows the truth and has been watching Hee Su, but it’s truly a mystery who this person is. It looks like they might want to have their very own “Gossip Girl” moment, but the why is unclear. Episode 4 ends with Hee Su asking to meet face-to-face.
5. And, finally, the carrot juice anon actually isn’t…
Another anonymous character in “Heesu in Class 2” is Hee Su’s mystery admirer who has been leaving his favorite drink, carrot juice, on his desk, as well as posting on the counseling club’s forum.
Since it’s clear now that Seung Won likes Hee Su, not Ji Yu, and because he is also in the counseling club, you might have guessed he is the one leaving the juice for Hee Su. But it’s shown that Seung Won wonders who is posting when he reads a new message from the carrot juice anon. We’ll just have to keep watching to find out who it is!
