8 Best Gadgets and Tech From the Fallout Series

If you are into haggling with irradiated ghouls for bottle caps and just really, really love the charming retro futuristic vibes of a nuclear apocalypse, then listen closely because the Fallout video game series is basically custom-made for your weird taste.

While the Fallout games are an absolute charm to play, what really brought us back to this nuclear world is the Fallout live-action series, which was released back in 2024. The series is overflowing with gadgets that are as ingenious as they are dangerous. So we decided to make a list of the eight best gadgets from the Fallout TV series. Let’s jump right into it.

1 Pip-Boy

Starting with Pip-Boy, also known as Personal Information Processor, is a series of wearable computers that are manufactured by the game’s multibillion-dollar robotics and software corporation, RobCo Industries. They are the signature arm gadget for the entire Fallout franchise, which a Vault Dweller wears like a wristwatch.

The Pip-Boys are capable of showing the user five distinct menus, which can be switched by turning the knob on the right-hand side of the device. The Pip-Boys are capable of detecting your health, and they can also show you what’s in your inventory. It has maps, navigation, comms, stores data, a radio, a torch, and even a built-in Geiger counter to warn the wearer if they are approaching a radioactive zone.

2 T-60 Power Armor & T60 Pistol

Next up, we have this hunk of steel known as the T-60 powered combat infantry armor, also called the T-60 power armor. This is basically a personal infantry suit that is intended for combat and heavy-labor roles, which was made by the U.S. government before the Great War. This power armor is a favorite for the Brotherhood of Steel, and it can only be earned by the knights who commit extreme acts of bravery.

The T60 Pistol is basically a semi-automatic, high-powered sidearm that has a large barrel and bracket underneath, and it comes fixed to the T-60 power armor on either hip. It is loaded from a detachable magazine, and it has nine shots per reload.

3 Junk Jets

While it might sound like something else, Junk Jets is actually a heavy, ballistic weapon that fires any and all sorts of junk items that are loaded into its hopper. It has to be manually loaded, and you can later go and pick up the fired items after being shot, making this a weapon with unlimited ammo.

The Junk Jet came into existence when an unnamed technician working at ArcJet Systems had become fed up with being repeatedly belittled by his coworkers. Sick of being mocked every day, he decided to get revenge and created the Junk Jet to showcase his engineering skills (plus murder the engineers who were mocking him).

4 10mm Pistol

Coming in at number four are the 10mm pistols, which are sidearms that use the 10mm ammunition and are basically useful souvenirs from before the Great War. They were used by the military and law enforcers before the world turned into an apocalyptic desert, and their reliability and firepower made them a popular choice among the wastelanders.

This is one of the first weapons that you obtain in the game, and it is available to both the government and civilian clients. It can also be fitted with an automatic receiver to be made into a machine pistol, as well as a variety of optics, suppressors, and other accessories to improve its overall performance.

5 Automated Turrets

At number five, we have the Automated Turrets, which were employed by large corporations and the military before the Great War to serve as unmanned security units, capable of engaging trespassing targets. And even after 200 years, many of these turrets are still active and hostile to anyone who finds them.

There are multiple variants of these turrets, where they can either be wall/ceiling mounted or can be hidden underground, as seen in the show. These turrets can either shoot lasers or machine gun rounds, which are best to keep out hostile groups like raiders, Gunners, and super mutants. In the game, you can build your own settlement-type turret to defend your settlements.

6 AER9 Laser Pistol

Speaking of laser rifles, the AER9 Laser Pistol is probably one of the best weapons in the entire Fallout TV series. These laser pistols offer superior damage and a slower rate of fire, but they can be upgraded to do more damage per second when fully modified.

The AER9 is a pre-war, military grade weapon, which is the classic red-beam laser you’ll find throughout the Commonwealth. It is often wielded by Gunners, Brotherhood of Steel, or they are just lying around in forgotten bunkers. In the TV series, the laser pistol appeared in the final episode, and it was wielded by Lee Moldaver a.k.a Flame Mother.

7 Mister Handy

Mister Handy, or Mr. Handy, is a multipurpose robot that appears in the Fallout TV series, episode 4, “The Ghouls”. It is a multipurpose robot that was developed by General Atomics International before the Great War, and it was refined in collaboration with RobCo Industries. These multipurpose robots were extremely popular and were used in both homes and offices.

In the show, a medical Mister Handy model called Snip Snip appears, who was evidently the former attendant of a clinic in a Super Duper Mart. He was reprogrammed to harvest organs from people, and he does it while speaking very politely to his “patients.”

8 The Robo Brain

Lastly, we have the Robo Brain, which is a next-generation talking brain bot. Similar to Mister Handy robots, the Robo Brain is also developed by General Atomics International in collaboration with RobCo Industries. They were designed to be more flexible and powerful than robots because their control and processing unit is an actual brain.

In the Fallout TV series, the Robo Brain we see is actually the remains of a pre-war Vault-Tec executive named Bud Askins. He found a way to preserve his consciousness by keeping only his brain alive, while his physical body perished over time. He was the overseer for Vault 31 for years, forever watching over the Vault-Tec employees who were kept alive through cryosleep.

[BONUS] The Ghoul’s Revolver

The one weapon that everyone just loved in the Fallout TV series is the Ghoul’s Revolver. It is a unique revolver and grenade launcher that is carried by the Ghoul from the show. Visually, it is a large-caliber, break-action revolver with a four-shot cylinder. It fires finned bullets, which can cause extreme damage to human targets.

The Ghoul’s Revolver appears in a handful of Fallout games, which are Fallout Shelter (it was added in the 1.16.0 update) and the Hollywood Heroes expansion for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and Fallout: Factions. In the show, the Ghoul is seen fan firing this gun, which is often popular with cowboys.

So, which one of these gadgets did you find interesting? Let us know, down in the comments.
