Your next hit anime, Gachiakuta, is coming to Crunchyroll this summer; what perfect timing! As announced in March, the dark fantasy will launch in July, but no precise date was revealed then. However, thanks to a newly released trailer via the streamer, fans finally have a date to prepare for. On Sunday, July 6, Gachiakuta will be available to stream on Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan, where it will begin broadcasting on twenty-eight CBC/TBS-affiliated stations from 11:30 p.m., as disclosed on the anime’s official website.
In Gachiakuta, Rudo lives in the slums of a floating town, where the poor scrape by under the shadow of the rich who live a sumptuous life, simply casting their garbage off the side, into the abyss, a.k.a. The Pit. Then one day, he’s falsely accused of murder, and his wrongful conviction leads to an unimaginable punishment: exile off the edge, with the rest of the trash. There, different kinds of vicious monsters breed, which the accused encounters, as well as an organization called the Cleaners, who exterminate the “trash beasts.” The dystopian anime is further teased:
If Rudo wants to have any hope of discovering the truth and seeking vengeance against those who cast him into Hell, he will have to master a new power and join a group known as the Cleaners who battle the hulking trash beasts of the Pit!

The Brilliant Team Behind ‘Gachiakuta’
Based on the manga by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma with series composition by Hiroshi Seko and character designs/chief animation direction by Satoshi Ishino. The trailer also reveals that Paledusk will provide the opening theme song titled “HUGs,” with DUSTCELL providing the ending theme “TOMOSHIBI.”
Featured in the main voice cast of Gachiakuta are Aoi Ichikawa (Yamada Asaemon Fuchi in Hell’s Paradise) as Rudo, Katsuyuki Konishi (Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Enjin, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito in Sword Art Online) as Zanka and Yumiri Hanamori (Yamada Asaemon Sagiri in Hell’s Paradise) as Rriyo. Toshiyuki Morikawa will also join the cast as Regto, with Yuuki Shin voicing Jabber.
