Kim Nam Gil and Kim Young Kwang's 'Trigger' confirms premiere

Netflix has confirmed the release of Trigger for July 25.

Trigger tells the story of two men who pick up guns for different reasons amidst the continuous occurrence of gun incidents happening as a result of illegal firearms deliveries in Korea, where buying, selling, and owning guns is banned.

Kim Nam Gil portrays Lee Do, a police officer who picks up arms again to uphold justice, while Kim Young Kwang takes on the role of Moon Baek, a mysterious figure assisting Lee Do at gun incident scenes.

The teaser opens with a narration: “Everyone carries a trigger in their heart,” and loud gunshots ring out. With this as the starting signal, dozens of bullets and guns are discovered in various places. Unidentified firearms are being delivered across the country through parcel services. Like fueling a world where even conflict turns into profit, the spread of illegal guns and those who get their hands on them signals a burgeoning crisis.

Amid the chaos, Lee Do begins to pursue the truth. Moon Baek’s question, “What would happen if everyone in Korea had a gun? Aren’t you curious?” tightens the thread of suspense.

Director Kwon Oh Seung described Trigger as “a story where things everyone has imagined at least once become reality,” and, “It presents guns from a different perspective than how they’ve been so far portrayed in Korean films or dramas, with guns acting at the core of the story.”

Trigger will be released worldwide on Netflix on July 25. Watch the teaser here
