Robert Scorpio Returns to General Hospital Amid Tristan Rogers’ Cancer Diagnosis

In a surprising move, veteran soap star Tristan Rogers returned to General Hospital on the same day he publicly announced his cancer diagnosis. The actor, who played the role of Robert Scorpio for years on General Hospital, appeared on the July 17, 2025, episode of the soap opera.

He announced he was diagnosed with cancer earlier that day through his friend and publicist, Anthony Turk.

What happened to Tristan Rogers’ Robert Scorpio in General Hospital?

Tristan Rogers joined General Hospital back in December 1980 and played the role of Robert Scorpio until 1992. After departing the show, he kept returning from time to time until 2018. In 2018, he took over the role again and remained on the show. He ultimately departed in November 2024.

In his final arc on General Hospital, Scorpio split up with Diane. He later decided to accompany Holly as she was leaving Port Charles, leading to his departure in 2024. It appears they are doing well outside Port Charles in the recent episode. Jason brought Daisy and Sasha to Robert Scoprio’s home after the duo left Port Charles. Sasha introduces Daisy to Robert in the latest episode.

So, Robert Scorpio is back on General Hospital, and it appears he is here to stay for now.

As for Tristan Rogers, his representative revealed the actor’s condition, saying, “While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,” he added, “As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family.”

Many fans have shown their support for Tristan Rogers since this announcement.
