Andra’s roots in the Masters of the Universe comics
Masters of the Universe: Andra marks an odd sort of homecoming for the new Man-At-Arms. While now best known for her animated incarnation, Andra was originally created as a comic book character. The first incarnation of Andra premiered in Star Comics’ Masters of the Universe #9 in 1987. She was introduced as a childhood friend of Teela, who was recently promoted to Lieutenant in the Eternian army.

Andra’s first appearance was also her largest one. She spent most of the issue trying to protect Prince Adam during a terrorist attack and inadvertently stopping him from transforming into He-Man. Subsequently, she appeared two more times fighting alongside Teela, before the series came to a close. After that, Andra was only ever referenced in the biography of the evil warrior Karg on the back of his 2018 action figure. Reportedly Karg became obsessed with her, before she banished him to to Prison Starr.
Masters of the Universe: Andra #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on September 17, 2025.
