Best known for FRIENDS, Jane Sibbett has had quite an impressive career. While the actress’s most memorable role was playing Ross’ ex-wife, Carol Willick, she has starred in several projects over the years, having a net worth of $2 million according to CelebrityNetWorth. However, interestingly enough, she seems to have been living on the outskirts of Hollywood since 2002.
After starring in Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Snow Dogs, the actress seems to have taken a step back from acting. While she is starring in projects here and there, the 2002 film was her last time starring in a theatrical release film. Instead, she has chosen to work in direct-to-video and television films, as well as individual episodes, since then, having quite a low-key career.
With this, one cannot help but wonder what could have pushed her in such a direction.
Snow Dogs Had a Very Poor Box Office Performance

Jane Sibbett’s Snow Dogs proved to be quite a poor decision for her career. While she has worked in a lot of films over the years, the film was especially poorly received, having a poor box office performance as well as bad reviews from critics. The film had quite an odd premise, following the story of a Miami dentist called Ted. When Ted inherits a team of sled dogs, he is forced to learn their sport or lose his pack to a crusty mountain man.
This storyline wasn’t well enjoyed by audiences, with the film having poor ratings on multiple platforms. IMDb gave the film a 5.2, and Rotten Tomatoes wasn’t any better, with the film having a 26% critics’ score and a 40% audience score. This does not make the film look very good in the eyes of the viewer, and it naturally hurts its box office numbers.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film had a budget of $33 million and ended up making $17 million in its domestic opening. This implies that Disney ended up losing money in the production of the film, since the film couldn’t even break even.
Considering this, it is not surprising that Sibbett steered clear of theatrical release films.

Jane Sibbett Should Have Had a Bigger Role in FRIENDS

While Jane Sibbett’s time in Snow Dogs didn’t work out very well, the actress was quite an important part of Ross Geller’s story in FRIENDS. Playing the role of his lesbian ex-wife, she was the reason why Ross was upset in the first season of the series. In addition to this, they also had a child together, making her somewhat of a recurring character in the series.
At the same time, even though she could have played a bigger role, she only appeared in 15 episodes of the show. This is quite interesting considering the fact that she and Ross were supposed to be co-parenting Ben together. Many fans believe that Ross was a terrible father, and most of these thoughts come from the way that he treated his own children.

At the same time, it could be argued that Carol’s absence from the story could have furthered this belief. The writers did not write many storylines of Ross and Carol actually raising their son together, which made Ross feel more like a single parent than anything. While Ross certainly stands as one of the most disliked characters from the series, it could be possible that certain odds made it seem so.
If we had seen more episodes of Ross and Carol being able to be good parents to Ben outside of their own troubles, it would have made both characters more likable. Considering this, do you think Carol should have played a bigger role in FRIENDS, potentially having a similar co-parent dynamic to Rachel and Ross?
FRIENDS is available for streaming on Netflix.
