The Pickup Post Credits Scene: Will There Be The Pickup 2?

Spoiler Alert !!!

This article contains spoilers for ‘The Pickup’.

The Pickup’s ending pretty much resolved every main character’s storyline. However, we did get a post-credits scene, which seems to be hinting at a sequel. The scene shows an angry French museum manager yelling at Russ (Eddie Murphy) and Travis’ (Pete Davidson) boss, Clark (Andrew Dice Clay), for messing up the delivery of the encased Squirrel Monkey.

The monkey was briefly acknowledged by the guards as an illegal Costa Rican import during the fast-paced chaos. Not much attention was paid to the creature besides when he was shown flying out of the armored truck when it finally blew up. The post-credits scene, which revolves around the monkey, is an indication that Clark was involved in some shady, illegal business.

Outlets like DM Talkies are speculating if the scene could be further explored in a potential sequel, and we couldn’t agree more. Additionally, Travis’s insistence on staying in touch with Russ and warning him that he will not be getting rid of him easily also feels like foreshadowing for a second part.

Keke Palmer Excited to Work With The Pickup Co-star Again

Keke Palmer portrayed a notable character in Prime Video’s The Pickup. Zoe was an anti-hero, of sorts. On a mission to avenge her father’s wrongful death as a security guard at The Sorrento, Palmer stood as a worthy member of the cast.

She, too, like Davidson, has noted how grateful she is to have had the opportunity to work with an icon like Eddie Murphy. A virtual press conference was recently organized where the entire cast and director answered questions from multiple outlets.

In the press conference, Palmer shared her experience working on the film with Murphy, saying (via Cinema Daily US):

I really do feel like working on The Pickup was like watching a masterclass of him continuously playing the truth. In every improvisation and joke, the situation was the comedy. He just always knew how to add to it in just the right way. So it was an honor, and I can’t wait to do it again.

The statement comes as a beacon of hope for audiences who want to see the ensemble cast reunite for another film. Knowing what we know now about the mid-credits scene of the film, we can’t help but wonder if this, too, was a subtle hint at a sequel.

The Pickup Director Calls Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson “True Storytellers”

Tim Story has steered Prime Video’s latest heist comedy as its director and producer. He brought to the film an ‘80s type of comedic charm. Under his directorial lens, the movie stands out as a light-hearted buddy comedy, with action chops infused in just the right amount.

Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson may look like an unlikely pair for a buddy comedy, but their portrayals delivered complete justice to the film’s narrative; what’s better than a rookie newbie and an experienced older bud to watch over him?

In a recent interview with SpicyPulp, when asked about how it felt working with Murphy and Davidson on The Pickup, Story stated:

Uh, it was it was fantastic to have them together because you knew you were going to get um surprises, you know, but anything they did was going to be um worth it. What’s great about them is they’re true storytellers. They know how to tell the story and give you those couple of moments in every sequence or scene that um added a surprise, but you were still telling the story and moving the plot along.

Murphy and Davidson’s brilliant on-screen chemistry and comedic timing helped them stand true to Story’s vision. What did you think of the pair in The Pickup? Let us know in the comments below.

The Pickup is now available for streaming on Prime Video (USA)
