China Beach: The Band of Brothers Replacement Now Streaming on Roku

Fans of the war drama Band of Brothers should be overjoyed that a potential replacement series just became available to stream. With news that Band of Brothers is losing its streaming home, it is the perfect time for another war series to become widely available.

Since Band of Brothers is a near-perfect series, other attempts to find a replacement show for it have been difficult. For that reason, regular Band of Brothers viewers need to learn more about a classic war drama they can now stream with ease.

In August 2025, a war drama called China Beach became available to stream for the first time. The show, which aired 61 episodes over four seasons in the late-1980s and early-1990s, is now available to watch on Roku’s new streaming service. Amazingly enough, the streaming service, which is called The Roku Channel, costs just 2.99/month where available.

After modern shows finish airing, it is typically pretty easy for potential new fans to go back and watch them. With that in mind, it seems outrageous that Band of Brothers has lost its streaming home.

However, nobody should be surprised that many old shows are extremely hard to find for people to watch for the first time. Sadly, there are generations of high-quality shows that are near impossible for new viewers to enjoy unless they are willing to make a large investment.

After streaming services became the main source of entertainment for many people, people interested in China Beach didn’t have a place to stream the show. Instead, the only real option was to buy the show on DVD. However, since China Beach DVD sets cost a lot of money on Amazon, that wasn’t a realistic option for most new viewers.

With China Beach finally finding a streaming home, Band of Brothers fans now have a great option to give the show a try.

Our Take On Whether China Beach Is A Good Band Of Brothers Replacement

To be clear, Band of Brothers is an absolute masterpiece that is incredibly engrossing. With that in mind, it is very hard for any show to ever take Band of Brothers’ place in television history. That said, China Beach feels like a great show for Band of Brothers fans to start streaming when they are looking for something to watch.

A show that takes place during the Vietnam War, China Beach focused on a nurse and her friends as they cope with the realities of conflict.

On top of having a fascinating-sounding concept, China Beach was respected enough to be nominated for several major awards. According to IMDb, China Beach was nominated for five Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes, and it won a People’s Choice Award. It should also be noted that China Beach’s nominations were for huge categories like lead actress and best drama series.

All things considered, it seems like a no-brainer for anyone who enjoyed Band of Brothers to give China Beach a try.
