Get ready for the country music drama, because Nashville is finally making its streaming debut on Netflix in the US. The entire series, consisting of seasons 1 through 6 and all 124 episodes, will be available to stream starting September 15th, we can reveal.
After a successful four-season run on ABC, the network made the decision to cancel the show in May 2016. But that wasn’t the end. Fans mobilized, launching a massive online campaign to save it, and their efforts paid off because within a month, it was announced that the country music network CMT would revive the series for two more seasons, bringing it to a total of six.
For the most part, the series has called Hulu its streaming home in recent years, but that came to an end last month, with users reporting the series was yanked from the service. Now, the series, which we once predicted would unlikely ever come to Netflix, is going to stream in the US for the first time ever for an unknown period (likely between 1 and 3 years).
For those who have yet to experience the glitz and grit of Music City, Nashville centers on the lives of legendary country superstar Rayna Jaymes and rising young star Juliette Barnes. The series became a sensation thanks in large part to its incredible cast, which included stellar performances from Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.
The list of cast members includes:
- Connie Britton (The White Lotus, Firefly Lane) as Rayna Jaymes
- Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Scream VI) as Juliette Barnes
- Clare Bowen (The Clinic) as Scarlett O’Connor
- Charles Esten (Outer Banks, Whose Line Is It Anyway?) as Deacon Claybourne
- Jonathan Jackson (General Hospital, Tuck Everlasting) as Avery Barkley
- Sam Palladio (The Princess Switch, Humans) as Gunnar Scott
- Chris Carmack (The O.C., Grey’s Anatomy) as Will Lexington
- Lennon Stella (The Fallout) as Maddie Conrad
- Maisy Stella (My Old Ass) as Daphne Conrad
- Will Chase (Stranger Things, Smash) as Luke Wheeler
- Aubrey Peeples (Jem and the Holograms) as Layla Grant
- Eric Close as Teddy Conrad (Without a Trace, Suits)
- Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement, Scream Queens) as Jeff Fordham
- Robert Wisdom (The Alienist, The Wire) as Coleman Carlisle
- Powers Boothe (Deadwood, 24) as Lamar Wyatt

The underlying rights to the show are co-owned by Lionsgate Television and ABC Studios (now ABC Signature). This joint ownership has allowed the property to move across various platforms over the years, from its original run on ABC to its later seasons on CMT, and now, finally, its arrival on Netflix. It’s just the latest show to come to Netflix from Lionsgate this Summer, with others including The Hunting Wives, Hightown, and Love Life.
Producers have been actively developing a stage musical based on the series, with the live theatrical rights acquired from both Lionsgate and ABC Studios. While the musical has been in development since 2019, there has been no recent official word on a premiere date. As for a television reboot or revival, nothing official is in the works at this time beyond rumors and numerous cast members suggesting they’d be down for a reunion.
