British outlet The Times’ journalist Duncan Castles has sparked headlines by reporting that Tottenham Hotspur, just weeks after parting ways with Son Heung-min, are eyeing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Lee Kang-in as a marquee signing. With roughly a week left before the European transfer window closes, speculation is mounting over whether the 24-year-old Korean star could become the next face of Spurs.

According to Duncan Castles, Tottenham initially approached PSG earlier this summer to discuss the midfielder’s availability. PSG reportedly remain open to selling Lee, but only if they receive an acceptable fee and have enough time to recruit a replacement. Castles noted that Tottenham have already lost out on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who chose Arsenal despite Spurs’ interest, and are now weighing Lee Kang-in as a top alternative.
The suggested transfer fee stands at around €50 million — a significant figure, but relatively cheaper compared to other Spurs targets such as Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and Manchester City’s Savinho. Castles emphasized that Lee is seen not only as a strong footballing addition but also as a major marketing asset, particularly in Asia.

Should the deal go through, Lee would be the third Korean player to wear Tottenham’s shirt after Lee Young-pyo and Son Heung-min. Moreover, with Son’s departure to LAFC leaving Tottenham’s iconic No.7 shirt vacant, speculation has grown that Lee could inherit the number — symbolically linking him to his predecessor’s legacy.

While PSG reportedly wish to keep Lee as part of their rotation squad, the French daily L’Équipe confirmed that his future remains undecided and that Tottenham’s bid could still prove decisive. If Spurs meet PSG’s conditions, Lee’s move could become one of the biggest shocks of the late transfer window.
