Batman's DCU Debut: Peacemaker Season 2 Cameo Theory Explained

Batman’s arrival in the DCU could be imminent according to one theory about where the hero will debut. The DCU is still in its infancy with just a handful of projects currently available to watch, and many more characters slated to arrive over the coming years. However, one central DCU figure could be appearing sooner rather than later.

While James Gunn has established a strict rule that no DCU project will enter production until it has a solid finished script attached to it, there are some significant heroes who are guaranteed to join this franchise, despite their solo projects still being some way out. And among them, Batman is perhaps the most hotly anticipated.

James Gunn’s Teased Big Peacemaker Season 2 Cameo Is Batman According To Major DC Theory

While The Brave and the Bold is set to be Batman’s first solo film in the DCU, Gunn has confirmed that there is not a complete script for that Batman project just yet. This could potentially mean that we are still years away from seeing the Caped Crusader on the big screen in the DCU.

But, Gunn has also teased a big cameo for Peacemaker season 2. While Batman may not be preparing for his solo outing just yet, there is a possibility that Gunn has cast an actor in the role behind the scenes, ready to appear in other projects. And if that’s the case, it’s possible they could appear much sooner.

With Peacemaker season 2 being a central part of the DCU, and the interconnected nature of these stories, it’s entirely possible that this could be the first project to feature Batman, even if it’s just for a cameo appearance.

Peacemaker Season 2’s Story Has A Perfect Batman Setup

Now, while it may seem far-fetched to assume that Batman will appear in Peacemaker season 2, there are some details that hint at how and why this would work as Batman’s DCU debut. For instance, Batman is one of the only characters associated with the Justice League that was absent from the original season 1 ending.

And while Peacemaker season 2 replaced the lineup with the Justice Gang, Superman, and Supergirl, it still notably left out any corresponding version of the DCU’s Dark Knight. This could suggest that Batman is operating independently, and apart from other heroes present in this reality.

But more than that, Peacemaker season 2 is clearly messing with a multiverse. Christopher Smith has already broken down the walls between different realities, which appears to have a larger impact, as highlighted by Rick Flag Sr. Batman is a genius with access to advanced resources, so he could very easily be aware of the signals that ARGUS is tracking.

And considering the damage caused by Lex messing with pocket dimensions, Batman could be on high alert about stopping other similar threats. In this way, it would make perfect sense for Batman to track down the signal, confront Peacemaker, and make his debut in the DCU.
