Netflix’s new murder mystery movie, featuring some British acting royalty, is now streaming and comes equipped with a stellar soundtrack. Below, we’ll walk you through who composed the original score for the film, in addition to looking into all the licensed tracks that featured throughout.
The film is now available, and we published our review this morning, giving it a 2.5-star rating out of five. Morgan concluded, “It will be widely seen. It will satisfy its audience. It will get a sequel. But don’t think The Thursday Murder Club will be much more than a surface-level whodunnit that doesn’t challenge or excite.”
The original soundtrack for the film comes from Thomas Newman, who is perhaps best known for working on big Disney animated properties like Finding Nemo and Elemental, plus more adult films like American Beauty, 1917, and Operation Mincemeat. For Netflix, Newman was behind the most recent season of Monsters, covering Lyle and Erik Mendendez, and composed 37 tracks.
For The Thursday Murder Club, there are 24 tracks in total with a total runtime of 40 minutes and 47 seconds. The songs are as follows:
- The Woman in White
- The Thursday Murder Club
- The Arm in the Mirror
- Jumper
- My Mother’s Name
- DI Penny Gray
- The Enemy Approaches
- WTF
- Scrum
- Witnesses To A Murder
- Aunt Maude
- Night Flowers
- Clever Daughter
- Cheap Trick
- Headstones
- A Woodpecker
- Don’t Wake The Dead
- Four Sugars
- The Case of Angela Hughes
- What A Chase
- Good People Bad Things
- Always Bring Cake
- The Famous Coppers Chase
- Blood Roses
Licensed Music in The Thursday Murder Club Movie
Only seven licensed movies featured throughout the film, with most falling into three categories: classic rock (sorry John Lennon, I’m putting you in this camp), disco, and pop, with Lady Gaga and not one but two tracks from Cat Stevens.
- Disco Inferno – The Trammps
- Bang a Gong (Get It On) – T.Rex
- Power to the People – John Lennon
- Lovedrug – Lady Gaga
- Wild World – Cat Stevens
- Oh Very Young – Cat Stevens
The Thursday Murder Club is streaming now on Netflix globally following its premiere earlier this week and the movie is in select theaters in the United Kingdom in addition to showing at Netflix’s New York Paris Theater.
