“There’s no bad idea”: The Terminal List Plans For More Seasons After Dark Wolf, Threatening Alan Ritchson’s Reacher Monopoly on Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video’s The Terminal List: Dark Wolf just released the first three episodes on August 27, 2025. The action show, based on Jack Carr’s books and led by actor Taylor Kitsch, is a prequel to The Terminal List, and is receiving positive reviews from fans. Creator David DiGilio spoke to The Hollywood Reporter regarding more seasons for Dark Wolf:

We decided we’re not just going to make a new show in Dark Wolf. We decided we’re going to make a new way to make shows. I refer to it as team television, and it’s a very time-intensive process because everyone gets a say. There’s no bad idea. It’s a way to empower performers, the authors and anyone, down to the set dressers, with a creative stake. If an idea is sparked, you really start to talk about it, and it can lead to places.

The creator wants the two shows to bridge the Jack Carr cinematic universe by diving deeper into fan-favourite characters. With the success of the prequel show, we can expect to see more from the franchise, as it climbs up the charts, threatening another action show (via Television Stats).

Reacher’s Prime Video Monopoly Is In Question

Reacher is Prime Video’s action prize baby, constantly breaking records with every season. In March 2025, Reacher became the most-streamed show across all streaming platforms, clocking in at a total of 6.6 billion views (via TheWrap).

In comparison, Prime Video’s The Terminal List had strong viewership numbers in its release month in July 2022, clocking in at 1.6 billion minutes (via TVLine) across its eight episodes. Most of this can be attributed to Chris Pratt’s star power, as the show became a favourite among fans.

Alan Ritchson’s Reacher will have to watch out, as season 4 of the show is on the back burner so the creators can focus on its spinoff series, Neagley. This is a huge risk for the show’s dominant run while DiGilio is out there executing an entire Jack Carr cinematic universe with no breaks.

SERIES – SEASON RELEASE IMDb ROTTEN TOMATOES
Reacher – Season 1 2022 8/10 92%
Reacher – Season 2 2023 8/10 98%
Reacher – Season 3 2025 8/10 98%
The Terminal List – Season 1 2022 7.9/10 40%
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf – Season 1 2025 7.9/10 67%

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is pulling in great audience reviews in its sophomore season, and we can only expect the viewership of the universe to increase as viewers start driving backward viewership of its original show.

Author and series creator Jack Carr has expressed interest in turning one of his books into a movie.

In an interview with Comic Book, Jack Carr spoke about adapting one of his most popular books, Savage Son, for the silver screen:

Savage Son really lends itself to a film. We can always do it as a series, but it really lends itself, out of all the books, to a film. So I would love to see us experiment with that and bring something to the big screen.

Carr received inspiration regarding this when he watched the first few episodes of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf on the big screen, adding:

We saw the first episodes [of Dark Wolf] last night, in a packed theater, on a big screen, and most people are going to see it on smaller screens. But on the big screen, it was incredible! It’s such a different experience from how I’ve seen it up to this point, which was a much smaller screen. We are essentially making movies that people watch on television.

Action movies have a penchant for the big screen, not just for its visual element but also for the surround sound experience of weapons and hand-to-hand combat, adding to the whole cinematic experience.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is an original story developed with Jack Carr’s involvement in the Prime Video franchise. Carr plans to do a novelisation of the show based on the scripts eventually. Talk about art imitating art.

The circle will finish its completion, and we expect that the series is going to grow into a very successful franchise, rivaling Reacher.

The Terminal List, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, and Reacher are available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
