Ben’s fate in The Terminal List may not be sealed, teases star Taylor Kitsch, as the character’s prequel spinoff arrives on Prime Video. Chris Pratt’s James Reece targeted every character in The Terminal List who was involved in the death of his family, killing them all by the series’ end. However, Ben’s death is implied, never occuring directly onscreen.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about Ben’s new prequel show, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, Kitsch offered a cautious response to his character’s fate in The Terminal List itself. When asked if he could still be alive, the actor was silent before responding with, “He could be, I guess.” When pressed for more, he didn’t budge, leaving his fate unknown.
What Taylor Kitsch’s Response Means For Ben In The Terminal List
The Terminal List ended with Ben seemingly dying at James’ hands, allowing his friend to kill him. However, his death is never shown directly, despite happening in Jack Carr’s original novel. Instead, there’s only a strong implication that he died. There’s no evidence by the end of the series he’s dead aside from his name being crossed off James’ list.
However, the story of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is already making up for his demise. Following his early years in SEAL Team 5, the show follows what happens to Ben that corrupts him, and why he decided to turn against his fellow soldiers. The show offers plenty more for his character, even if he’s dead later in the timeline.
But, with Kitsch being coy about whether Ben is really dead in the main show, it opens the door for new stories featuring his character. Although it’s not confirmed yet, with The Terminal List season 2 currently filming, it’s possible James’ former friend really was spared, and that it won’t be revealed until the show comes back.
Our Take On Ben’s True Fate In The Terminal List
Kitsch avoiding confirmation of Ben’s death means there’s now a chance he’s still alive in the main show. If that’s the case, then he could have a part to play in James’ next mission. While the trust between both of them would be severed, his ties to season 1’s conspiracy could make for an interesting dynamic if he truly survived.
However, his survival would also somewhat cheapen the ultimate decision James made by killing him at the end of season 1. It would make his quest for revenge feel incomplete, even if it meant such an engaging character could keep coming back. Either way, it’ll be up to The Terminal List season 2 to reveal Ben’s true fate.
