In recent months, Zhao Wei has reportedly fallen into financial ruin, with her assets repeatedly frozen and nearly 500 lawsuits demanding massive compensation piling up against her. Shockingly, she has been unable to pay even a small debt of 14,000 RMB (about $2,000), landing her on China’s blacklist of “dishonest debtors.”
Amid her struggles, Zhao Wei was spotted traveling in Xinjiang in search of peace. In photos she herself posted, the actress appeared with a bare, tired face, disheveled hair, and a weary look that shocked fans. Once one of China’s top stars, Zhao Wei now seems to have shed her glamorous image, embracing a modest, ordinary lifestyle.
Meanwhile, her 15-year-old daughter, Huang Xin, stirred speculation after suddenly deleting all posts about her overseas student life on social media. Many believe she has withdrawn from the spotlight due to cyberbullying. Since publicly revealing her face in June, the teenager has been subjected to relentless criticism, with harsh comments about her looks and claims that she failed to inherit her mother’s beauty. Some even accused Zhao Wei of exploiting her daughter for attention, suggesting she might be grooming her for the entertainment industry to help save the family financially.

Zhao Wei was “erased” from Chinese media and scrubbed from the internet in 2021, with no clear explanation for the ban. At the end of 2024, she confirmed her divorce from businessman Huang Youlong, clarifying she no longer had ties to him and asking the public not to connect her to his debts and scandals. Still, Zhao Wei remains legally responsible for their joint involvement in the 2017 stock market manipulation scandal that devastated investors.

According to Sina, Zhao Wei once held a net worth of 520 million RMB (over $70 million). However, her fortune has since evaporated. Following fraud convictions, she faced nearly 500 lawsuits and was ordered to pay $13 million in damages, alongside additional compensation to brands and production companies due to her blacklist status. To make matters worse, she had to transfer over $50 million to Huang Youlong’s son from a previous marriage as part of their divorce settlement.
Huang is now said to have fled to the UK, leaving Zhao Wei to face enormous debts alone. With no opportunities in film, television, or business, the actress can only watch her assets vanish, unable to rebuild her shattered career.
