Fans are wondering if Netflix’s animated show, Wolf King, will be returning for Season 3 or not. The show’s Season 2 is currently scheduled to release on September 12, 2025. Will the story be concluded in Season 2?
Here’s what we know about Wolf King Season 3.
Has Netflix canceled Wolf King Season 3 or renewed it?
Netflix has revealed that Wolf King was planned for a 16-episode adaptation and will end after Season 2.
Wolf King is an animated fantasy epic based on Curtis Jobling’s six-novel Wereworld series. The series’s voice cast includes Ceallach Spellman, Nina Barker-Francis, Paterson Joseph, Rasmus Hardiker, and Kate Fleetwood.
Directed by Tom Brass, the British animated series follows Drew Ferran (Spellman). He discovers that he is the last werewolf and the rightful heir to the throne of Lyssia. While the first season focused on him discovering his lineage, the second season will be about the burdens of this destiny. Drew will have to fight to reclaim his kingdom by overthrowing the tyranny of Lionlords.
Season 2 picks up right after the events of the previous season as Drew narrowly escapes King Leopold. He reunites with his real mother, Queen Amelie, who remained in a trance all this time. Joined by allies Lady Gretchen and Hector, he aboards the ship, Maelstrom. Now, as a possible monarch, Drew has to face King Leopold and bear the responsibilities of his destiny.
Although the show started as a coming-of-age story of a teenager, it will start reflecting the darker tones of books from later in the series. The books included explicit descriptions of werewolf transformations, torture, and other incidents with extreme graphic content. However, the show has aimed to adapt the books for a younger audience, changing the tone from gory themes to more politically based themes. The books span six novels with extensive world-building, which the show condenses into its two seasons.
The story of Wolf King will conclude with Season 2, which you can stream on September 11, 2025.
