'Doctor Cha' confirms season 2 with Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul!

The hit JTBC K-drama Doctor Cha is confirmed to have a new season.

On September 1, media outlets reported that Doctor Cha is already in the planning stages for a second season. It was also revealed that the main leads, Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul, will reprise their roles.

Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul’s agency responded to the casting reports. Alien Company shared, “Both Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul are confirmed to return to season 2 of Doctor Cha.”

A breakout hit from 2023, the K-drama Doctor Cha reached its highest viewership with an impressive 18.5 percent rating.

The K-drama premiered in April 2023 and aired for 16 episodes until June 2023. In addition to tvN, it was also available globally on Netflix.

The confirmed airing date for the second season of Doctor Cha has not yet been revealed. It has not yet been confirmed whether the other supporting cast members will also return for the new season.

Doctor Cha tells the story of Cha Jung Sook, a woman who gave up her career as a doctor to become a full-time housewife for 20 years and the wife of a chief surgeon at a university hospital. An unexpected incident leads her to make the life-changing decision to restart her own medical residency.

Uhm Jung Hwa, Kim Byung Chul, Myung Se Bin, Min Woo Hyuk, Song Ji Ho, and Jo A Ram led the series. 

In the series, Uhm Jung Hwa will reprise her role as Cha Jung Sook, who paused her career as a doctor to become a full-time housewife. She then decides to resume her residency and work at a university hospital.

Meanwhile, Kim Byung Chul will continue to portray the role of Seo In Ho, Cha Jung Sook’s husband and the chief surgeon at a university hospital.
