Prime Video's 96% Rotten Tomatoes Sci-Fi Hit Flies Back Up the Charts Before Season 2 Launch

A new season starts at God U soon, and nothing is the same after Supes won several battles, tipping the scales against Humans. It’s a different world in Gen V Season 2. As viewers prepare to be introduced to Homelander’s America, Prime Video subscribers are refreshing their minds or catching up with the first season of the show. Gen V has resurfaced on the streamer’s top ten most-watched series, building anticipation for the next chapter of this story, which promises to dive deeper into the troubling history of Godolkin. The spin-off from the hit show The Boys was met with wide acclaim when it premiered in 2022, currently holding a 97% rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

In Gen V Season 2, school is back in session. “As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander’s iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean (Hamish Linklater) preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) are celebrated heroes, while Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (Derek Luh, London Thor), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it,” the season’s official logline reads.

Things Are Terrible in ‘Gen V’ Season 2

The wall’s integrity has been compromised, the dam has broken, and massive destruction is expected downstream. Or with a different analogy, showrunner Michele Fazekas explained in an interview what America and the campus feels like in the wake of the Supes’ win. “When you’re living in Nazi Germany at the beginning of Nazi Germany, what are regular people like? Do you just sort of put your head down and don’t make any waves? Do you join them, or do you fight?” she said. That’s the reality for many in Gen V Season 2, as Homelander and his supporters gain immense power both socially and politically. Marie and her friends are trying to survive, but a devastating loss a few months prior makes everything even worse. “It’s almost not even about clearing their names as it is about figuring out how to live in this new world order,” said Fazekas.

How prepared are you for the new normal? Gen V returns on Wednesday, September 17, when the first three episodes drop on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
