Reacher season 4 is set to improve the intensity and brutality of its fight scenes, according to its leading star. The show, based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child, debuted on Prime Video in February 2022, and follows a self-described hobo and former military police officer who solves crimes and metes out justice while traveling the country.
The cast of Reacher is headed up by Alan Ritchson, with Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Robert Patrick, and Maria Sten in supporting roles. Following the conclusion to Reacher season 3, which featured many prominent deaths, including Paulie, Zachary, and Quinn, there are plenty of avenues season 4 could explore, and it looks set to be the bloodiest season yet.
Per CBR, during Ritchson’s interview with Men’s Health, he stated that Reacher season 4 is set to be the bloodiest season yet, revealing that they had shot 11 fights in the first four weeks, and stated that the show is upping its action stakes, and that it will be the best season of Reacher to date. Check out Ritchson’s comments below:
“We shot 11 fights in the first four weeks, and we’ve never shot anything close to that pace. Everywhere Reacher turns, he’s got another group on his heels. It’s fun, wild, and nonstop, and we haven’t done anything like it yet. If you follow the other seasons, you know that they’ve gotten progressively better, more interesting. Season 3, I think, was especially well received. I thoroughly enjoyed the way we put that together, and the mystery and the reveals. It was true to Reacher, and it was him at his best so far. So, with that in mind, I say this with confidence: We’re somehow upping the stakes quite a bit. This is going to be the best season we’ve had yet. And definitely the bloodiest.”
What This Means For Reacher Season 4
Reacher season 4 has a lot to achieve if it is to live up to the breathless, pulse-pounding action of season 3, and Ritchson’s comments further raise expectations. The sheer volume of fight scenes suggests a season thick in action, and also suggests that Reacher will perhaps be pushed to his physical and mental limits.
The season will adapt Gone Tomorrow, which is widely regarded as one of Childs’ best novels, and could even see the show elevate itself beyond the excellent season 3. There could also be a change in narrative approach too, with the opportunity to blend the cerebral storytelling of season 1 with the non-stop action of seasons 2 and 3.
Our Take On Reacher Season 4 Leveling Up Its Action
Reacher has always been a show that reveled in its ability to create breathtaking action set pieces. In fact, there’s a case to be made that the show perhaps relied too heavily on this in the past couple of seasons. Nevertheless, the fact the show is raising the action stakes for Reacher season 4 can only be a positive for the show as a whole.
How long Reacher will run is unclear, but if season 4 can hit the success levels of previous seasons, while also taking the show to new places, this bodes well for the future. The upcoming Neagley spinoff show should also help to fuel anticipation for Reacher season 4, and, if the season can redefine the show’s action chops, it should do very well.
