Actress Song Ha Yoon is once again at the center of controversy as past school bullying allegations resurface, with conflicting claims adding fuel to the debate.

In its September 5 episode, the SBS TV show Curious Stories Y covered the school violence controversy surrounding actress Song Ha Yoon.
The episode featured Mr. Oh, who returned to Korea after as many as 20 years. More than joy, it was a heavy heart that came first for him. He said, “I came from the United States. I was put on the wanted list with the reason [being that I did] not comply with the investigation. It’s utterly absurd.”
Mr. Oh commented, “When I was in my second year of high school, she made me sit down and slapped me. She kept hitting me while saying she wouldn’t. She’s a devil. The reason I posted [the account] a year ago and reported it is because actress Song Ha Yoon sued me for defamation, claiming what I said was false.”
Actress Song Ha Yoon, who debuted as a magazine model during her high school, did not receive much spotlight. It was only last spring, 21 years after her debut, that she gained popularity through Marry My Husband, in which she played a villainous character.
Then, in April 2024, an alleged victim, Mr. Oh, appeared on an online community claiming he had suffered bullying at the hands of Song. He revealed that Song had even received disciplinary action for another case of school violence.
Mr. Oh said he could not stand seeing Song Ha Yoon appear on TV pretending to be kind and building her image. He reached out, hoping to receive an apology from the actress. However, she remained completely unresponsive, and so Mr. Oh ultimately decided to make his allegations public.
Recalling that incident from 21 years ago, he said, “It was the summer of 2004. I was called out during lunchtime, and all I remember is being slapped.” He stated that Song Ha Yoon had summoned him to a playground, where he was slapped continuously for 90 minutes without even knowing why.
He added, “Back then, there wasn’t even talk about school violence [the way there is now]. And since she was the girlfriend of a popular senior who was good at fighting, I couldn’t say anything. Later, I came to know that she was forced to transfer to another school because of a different school violence issue.”
Following Mr. Oh’s revelation, criticism toward Song burgeoned, and she halted all activities last year. Then, in July of this year, one year and three months later, the actress filed a police complaint against Mr. Oh. She stated, “It’s difficult to prove that something never happened, so I couldn’t respond actively. After collecting a large amount of evidence, I filed a criminal complaint against Mr. Oh for defamation, obstruction of business, and intimidation.”
Song Ha Yoon also argued that her school transfer at the time was voluntary, and that during the period the defendant mentioned, she was not even enrolled at that school. “I submitted objective evidence to the investigation authorities proving that there was no disciplinary action of forced transfer taken against me due to school violence, and Mr. Oh was placed on the wanted list because he failed to appear before the investigation authorities without a valid reason.”
In response, Mr. Oh is now preparing for a lawsuit demanding 10 billion won. He said, “I felt I needed to sound the alarm. Only then will things like this never happen again. Otherwise, the victims will be forced into silence. Because there is no evidence to counter with.”
Mr. Oh also addressed the accusations regarding his wanted notice, saying, “The police asked if I could appear, and I told them I lived in the United States. So they issued a notification of wanted status with the investigation put on hold.” He continued, “But, being the perpetrator, Song Ha Yoon put a criminal frame on me in order to cover up her own wrongdoing and make a comeback in the entertainment industry.” He explained that what he received was not a wanted order, in the sense that he is a fugitive, but rather a notification intended to determine his whereabouts.
In order to determine who was telling the truth between Mr. Oh and Song Ha Yoon, the production team of the show sought out their classmates.
They said that Song Ha Yoon used to pick fights with her friends, and even before she transferred from Bucheon, there was an anti-fan café against her. Informants also claimed that the actress was forced to transfer to another school due to a group assault by her clique.
At first, Song denied both the forced transfer and the school violence allegations. However, she later admitted that the forced transfer due to school violence was true, while insisting that she had been unfairly caught up in it. And later, she claimed it had not been a forced transfer but a voluntary one.
During their investigation, the production team met the alleged victim of the incident that led to Song Ha Yoon’s forced transfer, who stated, “After Song Ha Yoon transferred in, she stirred things up and caused discord, which led to an argument. After that, I was beaten. Song Ha Yoon also hit me. I was unable to attend school due to an injury that required four weeks of healing,” claiming that the assault was carried out by three people, including Song Ha Yoon.
The alleged victim continued, “A disciplinary committee was convened at the time, and Song Ha Yoon was forced to transfer. All of our classmates know. It was that big of an incident. Because of her, my entire high school life was ruined, and even now, when I think about it, I feel she’s so wicked.”
To verify whether the disciplinary committee and forced transfer were true, the production team visited the school. However, the school stated that due to privacy concerns, they could neither allow access to related documents nor confirm the facts.
Meanwhile, Song Ha Yoon’s legal representative did not respond to repeated interview requests and refused to comment on the previously issued statement. Then, on the day before the broadcast, they released a statement asserting that the allegations of school violence against Song Ha Yoon were not true and that she was never forced to transfer schools.
At this point, an eyewitness came forward — someone who had been present when Mr. Oh was assaulted. He said that he was shocked at seeing Mr. Oh being beaten and even tried to stop Song, adding, “She was hitting him first with something like a cushion, then with her hand, and was swearing. Mr. Oh’s face turned red, and he was in no position to resist.”
Lastly, Mr. Oh said that all he had ever wanted was a sincere apology and reflection from Song Ha Yoon, stating, “If she had just apologized at the beginning, this whole matter would never have surfaced. When the first disclosure came out, if she had apologized, it would have ended there. But because she didn’t, the second disclosure followed, and then the group assault case was exposed too. After that, she disappeared, only to sue me a year later. How am I supposed to take that? There’s not the slightest sign of remorse.”
The victim of the group assault also spoke out, saying, “If Mr. Oh is suffering damage, then I feel I too must testify and gather evidence. The victim shouldn’t be made to suffer further.” “Song Ha Yoon’s personality or character now is no different from how she was when she was young. She hasn’t changed at all since back then.”
