PLAVE Makes History as First Virtual Idol Group to Produce for ‘BOYS II PLANET’

PLAVE has set another milestone, becoming the first virtual idol group to join the producer lineup for Mnet’s competition series “BOYS II PLANET.” The show, a sequel to “Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga” (2021) and “BOYS PLANET” (2023) — which launched Kep1er and ZEROBASEONE, respectively — introduced PLAVE’s original track “MAIN DISH” in its September 4 episode.

Revealed during the Semi-Final New Song Matching Mission, “MAIN DISH” combined old-school vibes and rock sounds over an energetic beat, channeling the determination to become a lead character. All five members of PLAVE took part in composing, writing lyrics, and choreographing the song, while also sharing a performance video and guide to its highlight moves to inspire contestants. The achievement marks the first time a virtual idol group has produced a song and directed choreography for a television program.

PLAVE’s career continues to be defined by firsts. They became the first virtual idols to chart on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excluding U.S. lists in February 2025. Their Japanese debut single, “Kakurenbo (Hide and Seek),” released in June, topped Japan’s Oricon charts and Billboard Japan rankings. The group also holds the record as the only virtual idol act with over two billion cumulative streams on Melon.

Currently headlining the 2025 PLAVE Asia Tour [DASH: Quantum Leap] across six cities — Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Tokyo — PLAVE surprised fans at their August 17 Seoul show by announcing an encore concert in November at Gocheok Sky Dome. This milestone will make them the first virtual idol group to perform in two of Korea’s top five largest stadiums.
