The production company of the drama Delusion, starring Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, which had previously issued an apology for illegal dumping of garbage, has reportedly been fined.

According to a response from the Aewol-eup Office in Jeju City via the People’s Sinmungo (public complaint portal), Jeju City recently imposed a fine of 1 million won on the production company of the Disney+ drama Delusion.
Jeju City judged that the production company had violated Article 8 of the Wastes Control Act. It was determined that household waste generated during business activities was illegally dumped. Among the waste that was illegally dumped were butane gas canisters; however, as it could not be confirmed that the crew had used fire, violations of the Forest Protection Act were not applied.
In its response, Jeju City stated: “Although the site where the issue occurred is not national forest land, in the future, when granting filming cooperation within national forests under the jurisdiction of the Korea Forest Service, we will strengthen conditions for cooperation and strictly verify whether restoration to the original state has been carried out once the cooperation period ends. Furthermore, to prevent such cases from recurring, we have issued a warning to the party responsible (the production company), and we will strengthen monitoring against illegal dumping of waste in forests and intensify wildfire prevention activities.”
Previously, a netizen shared photos on social media, claiming that the production crew of Delusion had illegally dumped various types of trash — including plastic cups and butane gas canisters — in a forest in Jeju. A cup holder printed with the face of a Delusion cast member was seen discarded on the ground.
As controversy grew, Delusion‘s production company, Showbox, stated, “Because filming ended late and it was dark, we were unable to thoroughly clean up the site. Once we became aware of the situation, we apologized and asked for understanding from the filming set and related authorities, and immediately cleaned up the trash. Currently, everything has been cleaned up. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by our inability to clean properly after filming. We will be more thorough and cautious in the future.”
