Dick Van Dyke performs impromptu Happy Birthday sing-along for young fan

At nearly 100 years of age, Dick Van Dyke has remained true to his habit of bringing joy and laughter into the lives of people all around him. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Van Dyke, along with his wife, Arlene Silver, hosted the Vandy High Tea. This is an event that raises funds to benefit The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the Dick Van Dyke Museum.

In this event, Dick led the crowd into singing Happy Birthday for a young fan, Tristian, who had his sixth birthday on the day. Arriving all the way from Connecticut to see Van Dyke live, the child clutching the Bert and Mary Poppins dolls seemed to have his prayers answered.

Apart from Happy Birthday, Dick also performed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, along with the theme of The Dick Van Dyke Show.

He had previously canceled an appearance months back due to health issues, but he seemed to be in a good state this time around. “He was so sharp, was in great health and said he’s feeling good,” an onlooker told PEOPLE, “He was laughing almost the entire time and couldn’t have enjoyed himself more.”

This event took place at the Vandy Manor, the home of Van Dyke and Silver. It was produced by Chris Isaacson Presents and hosted by Stu Shostak. Moreover, apart from the entertainment, guests enjoyed sandwiches and desserts from Monrose Catering, alongside a variety of refreshments.

This latest development will make fans of Dick Van Dyke very happy. Moreover, many will hope that the actor celebrates his own 100th birthday with equal zeal.
