K-movies 'Boss' and 'No Other Choice' dominate Chuseok box office

Comedy K-movie Boss has surpassed 1 million viewers on its fifth day of release (October 7).

Boss is a comedy film that portrays the fierce, desperate competition among members of the Sikgu faction to give up the boss position. The story follows them as they “offer” the position to one another ahead of the election to chase their dreams.

Consistently grabbing the top spot at the box office during the Chuseok holidays, the film reached 1 million viewers today (October 7), its fifth day of release.

Boss, which had been anticipated as the only comedy film this Chuseok and consistently held the No.1 spot in overall pre-sales, drew approximately 240,000 viewers on its opening day, breaking the record for the highest opening score of a Korean film released in October post-pandemic, while also earning positive reviews from audiences.

The film is now expected to maintain its strong box office momentum after the Chuseok holidays and throughout October.

Another K-movie making waves at the domestic box office is No Other Choice, starring Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin.

No Other Choice tells the story of Man Su (Lee Byung Hun), a company employee who felt he had achieved everything, living a perfect life, until he is suddenly laid off. To protect his wife and two children, and to hold on to the home he worked so hard to buy, he prepares for his war toward reemployment.

According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council, on October 6, No Other Choice surpassed 2 million viewers on its 13th day of release.

The K-movie surpassed 1 million viewers on its fifth day and quickly crossed its break-even point (approximately 1.3 million viewers).
