EXCLUSIVE: Garrett Hedlund (Tulsa King), Jennifer Nettles (The Righteous Gemstones), Ross Lynch (My Friend Dahmer), and Ben Dickey (Blaze) have joined Heartland, Netflix‘s new mystery thriller from writer-director Shana Feste.
As previously announced, Jessica Chastain, John Hawkes, and country singer Carter Faith also star.
In the film, former country megastar Misty Jones (Chastain) comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her missing niece (Faith), a rising country musician, and must grapple with her own past and Nashville’s seedy underbelly. Her search uncovers a murky side of Nashville where no one, including Misty, is who they seem.
No word on roles to be played by the newcomers. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing for Chernin Entertainment, alongside Jason Owen for Sandbox Studios and Randall Poster. Exec producers include Tracey Cook for Chernin Entertainment and Jeff Valeri.
Known for films ranging from Inside Llewyn Davis to Mudbound and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Hedlund can currently be seen starring in Paramount+’s Tulsa King. Upcoming, he also has roles in Prime Video’s Criminal and Paramount+’s Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey. He is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
An actress and singer-songwriter whose recent projects include The Righteous Gemstones, The Bondsman, and The Exorcist: Believer, Nettles is repped by CAA and Gellman Management.
Also an actor and musician, Lynch’s film and TV credits include My Friend Dahmer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and his breakout project, Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally. He is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
Dickey is yet another performer with a musical background who played the title role in Ethan Hawke’s Blaze, a film about country musician Blaze Foley. Also seen on shows including The Good Lord Bird, starring Hawke, The Peripheral, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, he is repped by Mgmt Entertainment.
