For a show as great as Chainsaw Man, the main character, Denji, actually has a bit of a notorious reputation among viewers. He often comes off as a little too excited when it comes to girls and can easily fall for anyone who shows even the slightest interest in him. And this always puts him on a pedestal for getting involved in a toxic relationship.

So, here are all 9 of them, ranked from those who could be a potential match for Denji to those who saw nothing but to exploit his powers.
9 Kobeni Higashiyama (Chapter Debut: 10)

Kobeni honestly doesn’t get enough credit. She’s kind of adorable in her own panicky, awkward way. Yeah, her constant freak-outs might seem annoying at first, but that’s also part of her charm. She gives off that ‘must protect her at all costs’ energy, and her timid, submissive nature makes her even cuter.
But for someone who’s scared of devils, Kobeni is actually ridiculously talented. She does have a contract with a devil, but it hasn’t been revealed yet, which devil exactly. Maybe it’s the Black Cat Devil or even the Knife Devil. Well, to call Kobeni toxic would be quite the misstatement.
8 Power (Chapter Debut: 4)

Originally, Power was the Blood Fiend who later took over the body of a dead woman found in the woods and adopted that name. Well, she might come off as one of the most annoying characters in the series for a lot of fans.

But the way she slowly starts to value her own life and grows affectionate toward Denji and their friendship is actually pretty heartwarming.
So, on paper, she’s less toxic and more like someone who could actually be a good friend to Denji in the long run. But yeah, she’s quite dangerous, as well. She can turn blood into spears, shaping it mid-battle, or even using it as traps. Being a fiend means she’s not at full devil strength, but she’s still strong enough for regular devil hunters.
7 Fumiko Mifune (Chapter Debut: 136)

Fumiko Mifune is the woman of many men’s dreams. She’s confident, level-headed, and has this mature charm that is addictive. Plus, she actually respects Denji as Chainsaw Man, something most people either fear or obsess over, which already puts her ahead of the curve.
As an incredibly skilled Public Safety Devil Hunter, she handles Denji without needing any contracts. She might not have flashy abilities, but her sharp mind and steady nerves make her one of the most dependable humans in Chainsaw Man. So, essentially, she won’t be that much of a toxic match.
6 Asa Mitaka / Yoru (Chapter Debut: 98)

Here we’re counting both Asa Mitaka and the War Devil, Yoru, as one, since they basically share the same body. Asa, introduced in Part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga, is a total contrast to Denji in personality. So, their chemistry would be absolutely chaotic, as we can imagine.
Well, Asa is a bit awkward and insecure, but Yoru is manipulative. So, for Denji, it’s better not to think too much about her. But, to keep the Chainsaw Devil tame, Asa might just do the trick.
5 Himeno (Chapter Debut: 10)

Himeno honestly felt like such a perfect match for someone like Denji. She was mature, flirty, and could totally match his chaotic energy. She had that teasing, playful side that Denji would’ve vibed with instantly. The only catch? Himeno already had feelings for Aki, which put Denji in the ‘good boy’ zone.
Still, from her looks to her cool, laid-back vibe, Himeno gave off total ‘classy girlfriend’ energy, someone who could’ve balanced Denji out perfectly. But if she had been interested in Denji, that would have made him toxic as a person.
4 Quanxi (Chapter Debut: 54)

Quanxi’s whole aura is so unsettling. In terms of looks, she is still an absolute heart-stealer. That eye patch, the white hair, the calm killer energy: she just oozes cool. But the way she loves to use her subordinates, though not in a cruel way, doesn’t make her a promising love interest.
Don’t let her chill attitude fool you. As the first Devil Hunter from China, even her combat skills are top-tier. She’s so fast that most enemies don’t even realize they’re dead until she’s already moved on to the next target. Even among other hybrids, she’s on a different level.
3 Reze (Chapter Debut: 40)
Reze might be the best girl for Denji, but it’s true that she betrayed him and hid her identity as the Bomb Devil. If it weren’t for Denji and anyone else, she would have just fulfilled her without an ounce of emotion. She’s a walking red flag in that sense. But after her reveal and a few honest exchanges between them, it became clear that she truly cared for Denji’s heart.
The Russian military sent her to capture Chainsaw Man, specifically, Pochita’s heart, but with every interaction, it became more obvious that both of them were genuinely falling for each other. Still, she was like a lingering curse for Denji, yet also the one who literally taught him how to swim, right?
2 Death Devil (Chapter Debut: 108)

Previously known by the alias Fami, she managed to hide her true identity as the Death Devil, which, honestly, says a lot. Calm, calculated, and always one step ahead: she’s got that same manipulative aura Makima had. You never really know what she’s planning, and that’s what makes her so dangerous.
Beneath that friendly mask, there’s probably something way darker waiting to surface. So yeah, Denji better keep his distance. He’s already dealt with one control freak devil in his life; he doesn’t need another round of trauma. Getting close to her would just pull him into the same mess all over again, only this time, it might be even worse.
1 Makima (Chapter Debut: 1)
Makima is probably one of the most toxic female characters in all anime. Sure, it’s because she has been the Control Devil, but you can’t unsee how she always treated Denji as nothing more than a tool. Once her true identity was revealed, a lot of Makima fans quickly shifted their view of her.
Thus, she easily takes the #1 spot on the list. Treating Denji and others like a dog was just the nicest part of her character. She’s someone you definitely wouldn’t want to get involved with anyway. Makima is essentially the embodiment of that ‘don’t trust a book by its cover’ quote.
Well, that’s about it for the list. Do you agree with the rankings, or are you still on the Makima supremacy train, neglecting all the atrocious acts she has done? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
