DC’s Absolute Batman shows off his full brutality, which is unmatched even by most of the Dark Knight’s traditional villains. The Absolute Universe’s Batman is much taller, stronger, and more ruthless than most Batmen in the DC multiverse. Absolute Batman is unapologetically violent in his approach to crime-fighting, as criminals like the Black Mask can attest to.
As 2025 comes to an end and Absolute Batman reaches one of its many high points with Batman’s showdown with Bane, DC takes a break to celebrate Absolute Batman’s savage spirit. Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1, written by Daniel Warren Johnson, follows Bruce Wayne in one of his regular quests to deliver justice through sheer force. Though self-contained, it takes place in Absolute canon.
Batman has always held back in order to stay true to his famous no-kill rule; until the Absolute Universe arrived, that is.
Absolute Batman Goes Ballistic Against White Supremacists
Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1; Written by Daniel Warren Johnson; Art by Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer
After traveling out of Gotham to buy his weaponry, Bruce Wayne comes across a group of white supremacists attacking their victims. After a brawl with one of their factions, Bruce preps for a full-on charge, wearing the Batsuit and wielding his axe. Without uttering a word, Batman plows through the supremacists, breaking their bones, smashing their skulls, and running them over with his massive Batmobile.
If there’s any doubt about his intentions, Batman announces before the fight, “sometimes peace isn’t an option. Sometimes words don’t work.” Indeed, Absolute Batman spares no effort in brutalizing the racist group. His enemies don’t get the chance to negotiate or even react to his attacks before they become a puddle of flesh, skin, and bones splattered across the ground.
Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1 Gives Batman His Opportunity To Star In Superman’s Best Alternate-Universe Story
Batman Gets His Own Version Of Superman Smashes The Klan
In the acclaimed Superman Smashes the Klan, the Man of Steel faces the very embodiment of hate itself. The story reimagines Superman’s famous 1940s radio serial as he confronts the KKK. While he retains his compassionate and peaceful spirit, Superman doesn’t hesitate to take on the Klan head-on and expose their irredeemable evil to root them out.
Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1 mirrors the same spirit of justice, but twists it through the darker lens of the Absolute Universe. When Batman faces a group of white supremacists, he cuts through them in a blur of brutality. Unlike Superman’s lesson-driven approach, Batman’s vengeance leaves no room for reflection; only blood and guts.
However, there’s one detail that distinguishes Batman from anti-heroes like Marvel’s Punisher. In the aftermath of his rampage, Batman sits down and cries, not from guilt, but from the weight of knowing this is what it takes in his world. The inevitability of violence in the face of pure evil takes a toll on the most cold-blooded of heroes.
