Young and Restless’ Peter Bergman on if Jack & Victor Can Be Friends

Jack Abbott and Victor Newman have been enemies for decades now on The Young and the Restless. And according to Peter Bergman, that rivalry is not going away anytime soon.

However, the recent episodes have suggested that the two may team up to pursue a common goal: Cane’s dangerous AI program. But Bergman still does not think that it would end with them liking each other, and the idea was never realistic.

Peter Bergman reflects on Jack and Victor’s enmity on The Young and the Restless

Peter Bergman does not think that Jack and Victor will make up on The Young and the Restless. Instead, he feels that there is a new spark and fans should not expect a truce anytime soon.

He explained in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, “There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes backstabbing going on in this particular one. Does Jack maybe have in the back of his mind that, ‘If I got my hands on this thing, well… I’m not sure I share it with Victor, but Victor would probably use the same plan with me?”

The hate between Jack and Victor on The Young and the Restless goes past business; it is personal. Recently, they had an incident involving Nikki that left Victor angry at Jack. Bergman said, “He spent an evening alone with Victor’s wife in a drunken stupor, taking pills, drinking that could have killed Nikki, and Jack only made things worse.”

He added, “Put his wife’s life in jeopardy. There is no forgiving that. So, as much as it might be nice for these two guys to say, ‘Hey, let’s put down our swords for a minute, Jack is almost as insincere as Victor is in all of this. Because Jack knows that [for] this man, this is pure, virile hate.”

Thus, according to Peter Bergman, it seems like there is no way these two old rivals are settling down on a truce anytime soon on The Young and the Restless.
