The newly created DC Universe is only expanding day by day, with the latest news coming in stating that Skyler Gisondo’s character, Jimmy Olsen, is getting his own series. Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda have been announced to helm the Superman movie spin-off series, which will be a part of the DC Crime segment.
The series in question will revolve around Gisondo’s character, the photographer of Daily Planet, Jimmy Olsen, as well as other reporters, except Lois Lane and Clark Kent. What makes this upcoming outing even more interesting is that the prime antagonist will be Gorilla Grodd, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In case you don’t know, Perrault and Yacenda have previously been appreciated for their award-winning mockumentary American Vandal. Now the two will look after the DC entry as its executive producer, writers, and showrunners.
Here are some details on Superman (2025), starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan:
Everything We Know About Gorilla Grodd, a DC Origin Story You Must Know

Gorilla Grodd is a super-intelligent ape and a constant thorn in The Flash’s side, making his first appearance on the May 1959 issue of The Flash #106. What sets him apart is his telepathic powers. Not only that, but the huge ape even possesses powers of telekinesis, super strength, superhuman agility, intelligence, and combat strategy.

Using his superpowers, he has been ruling over Gorilla City. Gorilla Grodd was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino.
If you are thinking what makes him so powerful, well, there’s another story to tell. In the comics, he is shown to gain powers through either a spaceship that crashes into his forest or a meteorite. But the most-followed story is about a spacecraft crashing in a forest, and Grodd and his people coming into contact with it. Next, they are shown evolving beyond the common gorillas that live in the African jungle.
The character has immense psychic powers and has been a rogue to Barry Allen’s version of the Flash. Grodd has even gone head-to-head against the Justice League and has joined several villainous forces, including the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Legion of Doom, and many other teams of foes.
Our Take on the Adventure of Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd
While we are aware that the central plot will revolve around Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd, we can expect that the series will showcase an alien spaceship crashing in the African forest. Meanwhile, the series will even showcase cases around other reporters from Daily Planet, with Jimmy Olsen probably tracking the curious case of Grodd.
With all of that, be ready to be introduced to the new Flash. While no word about a new actor taking over the role of the Flash has been announced, we can expect a surprise cameo, which will introduce us to the speedster of the new DC Universe.
The series will be a part of the DC Crime segment, meaning we can also expect several cases from the infamous Gotham City, the crime hub in the world of Detective Comics.
