PlayStation's Time Running Out For Bloodborne 2 Announcement

After the most recent State of Play, I’m certain that PlayStation is running out of time for a Bloodborne 2 announcement, and there’s only so much time to make the best possible reveal. Over the past few years, there has been a continuous influx of rumors citing a possible Bloodborne remake or sequel, though Sony has officially shown no signs of the project being in motion.

There have also been talks about a possible PC port, as has happened with other first-party PlayStation titles, like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarok. Even so, the franchise developed by FromSoftware has seemingly been forsaken. Bloodborne has similarities with The Duskbloods, but they are not part of the same world, and there are key differences between the 2015 title and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game.

2025 Is The Perfect Year For A New Franchise Announcement

During Sony’s most recent State of Play, there were high hopes of a Bloodborne sequel announcement, as the presentation was focused on Japanese studios – and Bloodborne was originally developed by FromSoftware. However, no signs of the franchise made it to the show. This would have been a perfect opportunity for the announcement.

It’s worth remembering that 2025 marks Bloodborne’s 10th anniversary. Sony has already missed the chance to make an announcement earlier this year, in March, when the soulslike game completed its anniversary. However, with a dedicated presentation centered around PlayStation titles, the November State of Play would have been a great stage for it, even if delayed.

If the rumors about a Bloodborne sequel are true, 2025 is the ideal year for an announcement, even if not an official release. The gap for that ideal announcement, however, is quickly closing, as there’s less than two months before we enter 2026. It doesn’t impede an announcement in a future year, but it could break what would have been the perfect anniversary celebration.

There’s Still Hope For A Bloodborne Sequel Or Remake

TGA 2025 Could Serve As A Stage For The 10-Year Commemorative Announcement

Even if the absence of a Bloodborne 2 announcement was disappointing, it does not mean that all hope is lost. There is still a chance for PlayStation to schedule one final State of Play this year, possibly announcing more titles for 2026, which could contain the highly anticipated project. Moreover, however, the biggest opportunity for PlayStation lies in December.

Next month, The Game Awards 2025 will be hosted. Aside from the prizes for the best games of each category this year, the event is also a stage for new and big announcements. One of these announcements could very well be the long-rumored Bloodborne sequel.

For now, all of this is wishful thinking. However, seeing that this year marks the franchise’s anniversary, and how much the game is requested by fans, there is still hope for an announcement, be it a Bloodborne sequel or remake for PlayStation consoles in the near future.
