The 2025 CMA Awards have come and gone, and there was a noticeable absence this year.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton didn’t make an appearance at the Nashville, Tennessee show on No. 19, and it left fans scratching their heads. Shelton was nominated and won, CMA Musical Event of the Year, with Post Malone for his song, “Pour Me a Drink.” Still, E! News was also wondering why the dynamic duo wasn’t going to be in the audience ahead of the ceremony.
The only explanation the outlet was able to muster up from a source was: “Blake and Gwen will be watching the CMAs on their TV this year.” Shelton acknowledged his win on his Instagram Story on Nov. 20 with a repost of a CMA photo, but he didn’t even add any additional commentary.
Stefani shared a clip of her husband and Malone’s music video with a personal message on her Instagram Story. “Congrats @Blakeshelton + @postmalone on the well deserved @cma win. Love u gx,” she wrote with pink heart emojis on the clip.

Even with that sweet acknowledgment, the rumors about their marriage continue to swirl around their friend group.
“Gwen and Blake have been spending an awful lot of time apart lately,” a Star Magazine source claimed in early November. “It’s become a talking point amongst friends and fans that they’re living separate lives. A lot of people think the magic’s started to wear off.”
In the couple’s defense, they both have a lot on their plate right now. Stefani is prepping her 2026 Las Vegas residency at The Sphere with No Doubt, and Shelton has been busy promoting his first season of The Road on CBS.
“The Vegas residency is a big deal — she’s excited about that, but also nervous as it’s a huge challenge. And it’ll mean more time apart from Blake,” the source continued.
The 56-year-old pop star and the 49-year-old country singer have been down this road before, though — they’ve had to defend their love over and over again.
“The truth is I am in love with my best friend,” Stefani told Nylon in April 2024. “When you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us. You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship — I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is…”
Every time a rumor surfaces, the duo reappears looking like nothing ever happened. So is the rumor mill unfairly in overdrive? Only Stefani and Shelton know the truth, and they seem to always find a way back to each other.
