Aditi Rao who began her career in 2008 with a bit role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 has come a long way. Today she is not only doing films with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mani Ratnam she also plays the title role Omung Kumar’s Bhoomi who earlier  directedPriyanka Chopra in Mary Kom.

Aditi feels blessed.  “I am being choosy. Work is my only passion. I’ve no personal life. It’s just the studios and my home, and no digressions.”

She  laughs off the theory that outsiders are banned from Bollywood . “I think we should ban the word ‘outsider’ in our entertainment industry. Everyone is welcome. Nobody is an outsider.”

She recalls with much affection the kind attention of  Mr AmitabhBachchan. “He has always spoken well of me. He doesn’t have to , but he does. So does Jayaji. And Abhishek is the sweetest soul. I remember I was feeling lost at the premiere of my first film Delhi 6  when Abhishek reach out and made me feel comfortable. And during the film Mr Bachchan whispered to me, ‘Really great things are going to happen to you.’ I was thrilled. And baffled. How could  he see a future for me when I was barely there in Delhi 6 for ten minutes? But he did.And he  continued to encourage me.So does Jayaji.”

In  fact Aditi got the role in Padmavati on Mrs Bachchan’s recommendation.

“I am aware of that,” sighs Aditi. “Such gestures are not easy to forget. And one shouldn’t forget them.”

She aspires towards a quality of work that would last. “I want to do films that are timeless. Like Kagaz Ke Phool.I know everyone says it. But it is what I want.”
