Why Does Aditya Chopra Give His Blue-Eyed Boy Such Awful Films?

Aditya Chopra’s Befikre may have made the mandatory moolah over the weekend. But the quality of the content makes us want to throw up in disgust.

Why does Aditya Chopra do this to Ranveer Singh repeatedly? Said to be the Yashraj scion’s most favourite blue-eyed boy , Ranveer has done his career’s worst works for Chopra’s illustrious banner.

A veteran actor who has been a regular in Yashraj Films says, “Barring Band Baaja Baaraat in which Ranveer was introduced by Yashraj all his subsequent films with the banner have been far from satisfying.”

This actor is right. Right after Banda Baaja Baaraat catapulted Ranveer to overnight stardom his next film for Yashraj Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl was a resounding flop. And deservingly so.Then followed Ali Abbas Zafar’s Gunday and Shaad Ali’s Kill Dil which are among the worst films Yashraj has produced.

Now there’s Befikre. Certainly not a golden juncture in the history of the distinguished banner.

Says a young actor who has quit Yashraj, “Now we know why Befikre was Adi’s only directorial project without Shah Rukh Khan.Do you think Shah Rukh would have agreed to do a film where the hero is made to walk into a Parisian party in a red bikini underwear? And where the girl dares the hero to slap a cop in Paris? In Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge the naughtiest thing Adi made SRK do was to run away with a carton of beer from a grocery store in London, and that too after paying for it.”

Originally the script had SRK run away with condoms in DDLJ. The actor made Adi Chopra change it to beer.

Continues the ex-Yashraj actor, “Dignity is drastically lacking .And if I was Sanjay Leela Bhansali I’d put a curb on Mr Singh’s exuberance.”

Then as  an afterthought the actor wonders, “Come to think of it, if we take away Bhansali’s Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani what is Ranveer Singh’s career left with. Lootera????”
