Despite mixed fan reactions and a lukewarm 57% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Adult Swim has officially doubled down on Ninja Kamui. The action-packed original anime, helmed by Jujutsu Kaisen director Sunghoo Park, is set to return for not one but two additional seasons. The announcement comes after months of speculation and has left the anime community buzzing, some with excitement, others with skepticism.
Originally airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami block, Ninja Kamui made a splash with its stylized violence, dark tone, and cinematic direction, according to Variety. While some viewers criticized its storytelling and pacing, the anime still managed to pick up significant accolades, including “Best Original Anime” at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Clearly, critics and award voters saw something fans may have overlooked.
