While Chunky Pandey’s daughter Ananya makes her debut in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 2, the actor has completing his next film – and his debut in Marathi cinema, Bangarwala.
Talking about it Chuky says, “I am doing a Marathi film called Bangarwalla right now. It’s my first foray into the Marathi film industry. Uttung Thakur who had co-produced (with Riteish (Deshmukh), Balak Palak and Yellow, is producing this film and it is directed by Poshter Boyz director Sameer Patil. When they came and narrated it to me I realized it had such a great message – what one needs to do in today’s life. I said I have to do this film. I have been offered many Marathi films earlier but this one I just grabbed it. It’s got a very strong social message. They have taken all the problems in Maharashtra but have shown it in a funny, entertaining way. In the end while you get emotional, through the film they entertain you by showing you the problems. You see the story through my eyes because he’s a foreigner and it’s a very endearing character.”
And how is he coping with talking in Marathi in the movie? “It’s strange but though I can speak fluent Marathi, having lived in Mumbai all my life, I am not speaking it in the film because I play an Arab who for some reason lands up in a rural area in Maharashtra. I am fluent in Marathi though. What is truly wonderful is that the director Sameer has taken his whole acting team from Poshter Boyz in Bangarwalla.”
On another note, Chunky is back to playing Aakhri Pasta in Housefull 4, along with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan. Chunky says, “I am so excited about playing Aakhri Pasta again. It’s a mad bunch of guys and Sajid Khan back to directing the series again. Aakhri Pasta is such an integral part of Housefull. His name never changes but you will see him in a completely crazy getup this time.”
While the star has an interesting line up of films this year, what has him most excited is Ananya’s launch in a Karan Johar production. “I am so happy that I am smiling from ear-to-ear. She couldn’t have had a better launch. My karma must have been very good that my daughter got launched in Dharma,” Chunky laughs and signs off.
