After Playing Chanakya For Decades, Manoj Joshi Plays Indian Politics’ Modern Day Chanakya

Mumbai: Manoj Joshi, an actor known for his impeccable comic timing and flawless acting, is a man of many faces. He is known for playing the lead ‘Chanakya’ in a play which has been in theatres since 1990. Now, Joshi has donned the avatar of a man who is also known as Chanakya of the modern day Indian politics – BJP President Amit Shah.

Actor Manoj Joshi has studied BJP President Amit Shah’s life to get the role perfect to a tee. Joshi is playing the role of Shah in the upcoming biopic PM Narendra Modi that stars Vivek Oberoi in the lead role.

Manoj Joshi says, “Playing the character of Chanakya over the years has given me an in-depth understanding of politics and Chanakya-niti as it’s called. I have observed Shri Amit Shah ji for a very long time. Met him twice and have tried to absorb his personality. I have also heard that there is a photo of Chanakya in his office.”

Joshi’s contribution to cinema and arts can be understood from the fact that he has been awarded a Padma Shree, one of the country’s highest civilian awards.

Manoj Joshi’s career has spanned over three decades and has been a part of several blockbusters cutting across genres like Golmaal, Vivah, Guru, Ready, Bhaagam Bhaag, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and more recent Judwaa 2. He is one of the best actors in the country, a warhorse of stage, cinema as well as television. He is a seasoned theatre performer and has acted in several hit plays in regional languages.
