After School member and actress Nana opened up about getting her tattoos removed in a recent post on her social media.
In her recent social media post, Nana explained why she chose to remove nearly all of her tattoos, keeping only one that holds significant meaning.
Nana stated, “I have no regrets about the decision. I kept only the one tattoo that holds deep meaning for me, 1968, honoring the person I respect the most. I have returned with a clean body, and by enduring the pain, I have grown stronger. The struggles of the past have now become memories. I wrote down my feelings during that time because I overcame the pain by being honest, acknowledging it, and accepting it. Now, I hope to create music that others can relate to. I want to convey a message of hope that no one is alone in their pain and that they can overcome it. I sincerely wish you all happiness.”
Nana first drew widespread attention in 2022 during the press conference for her film Confession, where she revealed numerous tattoos. The actress later made it clear that her tattoos were not related to her role in the film but were entirely a result of personal decision.
In 2023, during a YouTube appearance, Nana disclosed that she had begun removing her tattoos at her mother’s request. She shared that since her mother had previously supported her decision to get the tattoos, she didn’t hesitate to agree to her mom’s new wish to see her with a clean body again.
While Nana has removed nearly all of her tattoos, she chose to keep the “1968” tattoo, which holds deep significance as it represents her mother’s birth year.
Meanwhile, Nana released her first solo album, Seventh Heaven 16, with the title track “GOD” on September 14.
Next year, Nana will return to acting with two upcoming K-dramas. She is set to lead Climax with Ju Ji Hoon, Ha Ji Won, Oh Jung Se, and Cha Joo Young. She will also return to Netflix with the upcoming series Scandal with Son Ye Jin, Ji Chang Wook, SF9’s Chani, and SECRET’s Han Sun Hwa.
Nana will also lead the upcoming film Andong alongside Byun Yo Han.
