Aishwarya–Abhishek In Abhimaan Rebooted

The 1973 Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bhaduri classic Abhimaan is  all set to get a millennial treatment  , this time in the hands of Tamil cinematographer-director  Rajiv Menon who  has been toying for  some time with the idea  of remaking the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic .

Menon has finally zeroed in on  the nitty-gritty of   Abhimaan rebooted. Interestingly Amitabh  and JayaBachchan’s  son Abhishek and son-in-law Aishwarya have  been roped in to essay the parts of  the singing couple who  drift apart when  the  more-talented wife becomes more successful than the husband.

Abhimaan , director Hrishikesh Mukherjee  had confessed to me, was based on the  experiences  of KishoreKumar and his first wife Ruma Guha Thakurta.

Says a source, “For a  very long time Abhishek and Aishwarya wanted to do another film  together. The  last time they came together was for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan in 2010. Abhimaan seems like a perfect vehicle to showcase their shared affections.”
