On Thursday evening Reliance Entertainment finally took a call to call off the release of their big-ticket entertainer Sooryavanshi.
The decision was forced on Reliance from Akshay Kumar who was absolutely adamant about the postponement.
A source in the know spills the beans, “Reliance wanted to do the wait-and-watch ritual. So much money and publicity is involved. Sooryavanshi is the biggest film of 2020. Any delay means losses running into multiple crores. However after the Delhi adminstration decided to shut down theatres Akshay swung into action. He made it very clear that the film’s release must be postponed for now.”
The Delhi administration’s decision to shut down theatres until March 31 will heavily impact this week’s big release Angrezi Medium.
Kishan Damani Bihar’s distributor of Angrezi Medium says, “The collections are going to be badly affected. Three states Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi hve shut down theatres. There is panic all around. The target audience for Angrezi Medium is the most likely to not venture out of their homes . We are going through an unprecedented crisis.”
