Alex Cooper’s Romance with Husband Matt Kaplan

Alex Cooper, host of the wildly popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” offers fans a rare glimpse into married life with husband Matt Kaplan in her new Hulu docuseries, “Call Her Alex.”
The pair first connected in 2020 during a work Zoom call, a moment Cooper later recounted to her listeners. “You know those people you meet immediately that it’s just like you feel like you’ve known each other for so long?” she said on an August 2020 episode of “Call Her Daddy.” “We immediately vibed, and it was just like, ‘We’re going to get along so well.’”
Kaplan, 41, is no stranger to the spotlight himself. According to IMDb, he’s the founder and CEO of Ace Entertainment, best known for producing Netflix hits like “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and the spinoff series “XO, Kitty.”
In a Q&A at Tribeca, Cooper opened up about letting cameras into their relationship. “You’re really seeing me in my life with my husband. I know you guys know how private Matt and I usually are, but I think this was a goal to show a little bit more,” she said, as reported by People. “In the second episode, you will see parts of our vows from our wedding, which makes me cry every time.”
From Secret Romance to Wedding Vows
Cooper and Kaplan got engaged in May 2023 after he surprised her with a five-carat diamond ring by designer Jenna Blake. Less than a year later, the couple tied the knot in Riviera Maya, Mexico, on April 6, 2024. According to Vogue, Cooper walked herself down the aisle, a choice inspired by her mother and a desire to reject traditional wedding conventions.
The ceremony included heartfelt vows, which viewers get to witness in the Hulu doc. “You’re the best man I’ve ever met. You inspire me every day,” Cooper said to Kaplan. “You’re the most passionate about the people you love. Fiercely loyal, it’s almost scary at times. And the way you love me, it’s indescribable.”
Kaplan, known to “Daddy Gang” fans as “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man,” focused his vows on the intimacy of their everyday lives. “It’s the conversations at 3 a.m. when we both can’t sleep,” he said. “The whiskey in our yard on Friday nights after a long week. You mean the world to me. Thank you for coming into my life. I love you.”
Honest Reflections and a Bright Future
In her new documentary, Cooper reflects on her journey from anti-marriage to finding lasting love. “I always used to say, ‘I’m never getting married,’” she says in “Call Her Alex”. “I thought it would threaten my independence — no man should be able to say that I’m his. My view changed with Matt.”
The couple now work side by side as business partners, all while continuing to support each other’s careers. In a recent Instagram post celebrating the docuseries premiere, Cooper wrote, “To my husband, who I love more than life itself, thank you for being my rock.”
Cooper has also opened up about their decision to wait on starting a family. “I just felt in my body that I want to grind at work and I want to be selfish a little longer,” she told listeners in a June 4 podcast episode. “I wanna go on a weekend trip with my husband and f*** and have no responsibilities.”
With raw honesty and her signature candor, Cooper is bringing fans along for the next chapter—not just as a podcast host, but as a wife.
