Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Alien: Earth season 1, episode 7.Boy Kavalier had a plan to put the eyeball creature, T. Ocellus, into a human in Alien: Earth episode 7, but he didn’t say exactly who he had in mind. Alien: Earth episode 7 was a disaster for Boy Kavalier and the Prodigy Corporation. Arthur Silva, Isaac, and Nibs died, Wendy killed several troops with her escaped Xenomorph, and Joe Hermit nearly got his sister off Neverland Island.
Kavalier, however, also managed to get some good out of Weyland-Yutani’s storming of the island. Kirsh captured a Xenomorph, Morrow, and his troops, and Kavalier determined that T. Ocellus was exceptionally intelligent. He even made a plan to put T. Ocellus into a human to see if it can talk, but he didn’t specify which character in Alien: Earth would be his test subject.
Boy Kavalier’s Plan For T. Ocellus Is Bad News For Joe Hermit
Based on what Boy Kavalier said about his test subject for T. Ocellus to infect, Joe Hermit seems like the most likely candidate. Kavalier mentioned that he wanted someone “stupid” so they could see how much T. Ocellus’ intelligence increases them, and we already know that he thinks Hermit is stupid. He also already used Hermit’s lung as a test subject for the Xenomorph.After Alien: Earth episode 7, using Hermit as a test subject makes even more sense. Hermit led a failed escape plan and destroyed Nibs, one of Kavalier’s prized multi-billion dollar hybrids. Hermit has also had a huge impact on Wendy so far, and he’s clearly pulling her away from Kavalier and the rest of Prodigy. Kavalier hates Hermit, and using him as a test subject is the simplest way to get rid of him.
Letting T. Ocellus infect Hermit would solve a lot of Kavalier’s problems, at least in theory. He wouldn’t be able to influence Wendy anymore with an alien controlling his brain. Kavalier could also set it up as either an accident or claim that Hermit actually agreed to it as a cover for Wendy. It’s exactly as clever as Kavalier thinks he is, even though there are some glaring problems in the plan.
Hermit Getting Infected By T. Ocellus Also Works For Wendy’s Story
If Hermit does get infected by T. Ocellus, it will be the perfect catalyst for Wendy’s story to develop. Alien: Earth has been building up the fact that Wendy feels more kinship with the Xenomorphs and the other alien lifeforms in Earth than she does humanity. She said as much to both Dame Sylvia and Boy Kavalier after Nibs’ memory wipe and Isaac’s death.
Even though she has been growing disillusioned with humanity, Hermit has acted as a tether for Wendy. He reminds her of the girl she used to be, and he’s the best example of the good humanity is capable of. That tether, however, began to fray when Hermit inadvertently killed Nibs. If Hermit then dies thanks to Kavalier’s experiments, Wendy won’t have any reason to side with humanity anymore.

Some theories already hint that Wendy could be a Xenomorph “Queen” due to her control over them, but she’s not fully there yet. Alien: Earth‘s finale episode is also titled “The Real Monsters,” meaning either the humans or the hybrids are going to do something quite villainous. Killing Hermit with T. Ocellus would give Alien: Earth the perfect opportunity to make good on both those hints.
