Alison Sweeney Reveals the Hallmark Star She’d Love to Work With

If you know Hallmark, you know Alison Sweeney. With her signature charm, radiant smile, and amazing mystery roles, she’s practically Hallmark royalty. From sleuthing around as Hannah Swensen in the “Murder, She Baked” series to investigating small-town secrets as Alex McPherson in “Chronicle Mysteries,” Sweeney has cemented her status as one of the network’s most beloved leading ladies. And she’s not just acting; she’s also been dabbling in writing, producing, and building stories from scratch for a while now. All of this while staying connected to the fans and co-stars who’ve made the journey so sweet.

But in a new interview with “The List,” Sweeney revealed something that soap and Hallmark fans alike might find very exciting. Yes, there’s one actor she’d absolutely love to share the screen with again. That’s none other than the dear Chandler Massey.

Chandler Massey does some movies with Hallmark,” Sweeney told the news outlet. “And I always have my eye out for a project that he and I could do together. That would be so fun.”

In case he sounds familiar, it’s because that’s Will Horton from “Days of Our Lives.” You know, her on-screen son? So yes, this needs to happen immediately.

If you’re not familiar with their soap roots, Sweeney played the fiery and complicated Sami Brady on “Days of Our Lives.” What made it exciting for her career is that she originated the role back in 1993. Safe to say her character and the show became legendary for their drama, tears, and surprising warmth. Massey stepped into the role of her on-screen son, Will Horton, in 2010. For us fans, their scenes together were nothing short of electric.

Behind the scenes, the two developed a deep mutual respect. When Massey exited
“DOOL” (as some of us like to call it) in 2020, Sweeney paid tribute to him in a heartfelt Instagram post:

“Chandler, you’re smart, funny, charming, and supportive,” she wrote. “You bring all that empathy and energy to every scene, and I just can’t begin to tell you how much it’s meant to me.”

She continued, “Every scene—especially the hard, emotional ones (aren’t they all 😭 😂)—you were ready to commit to each moment and help make our work the best it can be.”

If there’s one thing Hallmark loves more than a charming lead, it’s chemistry, and well, these two have it in spades.

Since his “Days” days, Massey has been steadily carving out a space for himself in Hallmark’s ever-expanding holiday movie kingdom. His credits include “Next Stop, Christmas,” “A Tale of Two Christmases,” and “The Professional Bridesmaid.” Each of these proved he’s got the wholesome, heart-melting charisma to match any snowy backdrop or cookie-baking montage.

And while he’s often playing the love interest in these feel-good flicks, fans of his soap opera days know that Massey brings emotional depth to his characters. It truly is something that’s rare and refreshing in romantic TV movies.

Pairing him with Sweeney, who’s more than capable of pulling double duty as star and executive producer, feels like a no-brainer. The big question here is, will it happen?

Well, Sweeney clearly has her sights set on it. And knowing her track record for getting things done (she made two Hallmark movies in Barcelona happen, after all), we wouldn’t bet against it.

Whether it’s a cozy mystery, a family drama, or a new spin on a holiday romance, the Alison-Chandler reunion would be a gift for fans across multiple genres. Until then, we’ll be waiting with a cup of cocoa in hand and maybe tagging Hallmark in a few polite tweets.
