Marvel Studios has teased the return of one of its most powerful characters in the upcoming VisionQuest series. The Disney+ show, led by Star Trek: Picard creator Terry Matalas, will explore new chapters in the WandaVision saga while setting the stage for major future storylines in the MCU.
Billy rumored to return in VisionQuest, Wanda’s comeback to be set up
A new report by industry insider @MyTimeToShineHello revealed, “Billy is in Vision Quest and it will tease the Champions series and Secret Wars. And Wanda’s return.” The Disney+ series, confirmed at New York Comic-Con 2025, continues the story of WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Showrunner Terry Matalas leads the eight-episode production, which stars Paul Bettany as White Vision and premieres in 2026.
Marvel Studios has described VisionQuest as the “conclusion of the WandaVision trilogy,” focusing on Vision’s struggle to reconnect with his lost emotions. Bettany told Rotten Tomatoes, “White Vision is having real difficulty connecting to his memories. He has them, but he doesn’t have the feelings, and that’s what the journey is” (via Marvel). The series will also feature James Spader’s Ultron, human versions of Tony Stark’s AIs J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., and E.D.I.T.H., and new additions like Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff.
Mollica’s role, confirmed during New York Comic-Con 2025, reintroduces Wanda and Vision’s son as the reincarnated Speed. His brother Billy Maximoff, last seen in Agatha All Along, will reportedly appear alongside Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness as they continue searching for Tommy. This storyline positions VisionQuest as a bridge to Marvel’s planned Champions project, featuring younger heroes including Wiccan and Speed.
Marvel sources reported that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff remains a pivotal presence. The show will “set up Wanda’s return,” linking directly to the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. It will complete the Maximoff family’s long-running arc across Phase 6 of the MCU.
