JLo’s 2025 AMAs Moment Will Mark Two Special Milestones
Lopez’s hosting gig at this year’s show will mark the 10-year anniversary of the first time the “On The Floor” singer hosted the AMAs. JLo wowed the crowd that year by opening the ceremony with a high-energy medley of her top hits.
The 2015 performance took place the year after Lopez’s divorce from Marc Anthony, who she married in 2004, was finalized. The former couple famously sparked reconciliation rumors the next year by kissing onstage at the 2016 Latin Grammy Awards after sharing the spotlight for a duet of the classic Spanish ’80s song “Olvídame y Pega la Vuelta,” per Today’s relationship timeline of the pair.
But the recoupling never happened. Instead of giving it another try with Marc Anthony, Lopez started dating American baseball shortstop Alex Rodriguez in 2017, who had just announced his retirement from the New York Yankees.
Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in 2019 with a giant diamond he presented to her during a vacation to the Bahamas, per InStyle. But “The Wedding Planner” star never made it to altar with the MLB giant. People reported the pair’s split in March 2021.
Along with Jlo’s 10-year hosting anniversary, the 2025 AMAs will also mark the 50th anniversary of the show. Its 1975 debut was hosted by musicians Roy Clark, Helen Reddy, and Sly Stone.
Several performers have been announced for the 2-hour special. Among them are Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight, Green Day, Nelly, and Sheila E.

He gushed in a press release, “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.”
