Carrie Bradshaw is back behind the keyboard, summer is heating up in NYC, and the fashion is still fabulous. “And Just Like That…,” the “Sex and the City” sequel series, returns for its third season this May—and Max just dropped the official trailer. From new love triangles and big life shifts to the absence of a fan-favorite character, here’s everything we know so far.

‘And Just Like That…’ Season 3: Who Is In and Who Is Out?

Fans can expect to follow the lives of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) as they continue navigating love, friendship, and family in their 50s. Season 3 picks up with Carrie trying her hand at writing fiction—perhaps inspired by her latest complicated chapter with Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).

Beloved characters like Seema (Sarita Choudhury), Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), and Anthony (Mario Cantone) return to the series, along with familiar faces played by David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Cathy Ang, Niall Cunningham, Alexa Swinton, Dolly Wells, and Sebastiano Pigazzi.

Rosie O’Donnell, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, Racquel Chevremont, and Logan Marshall-Green—new cast additions for season 3 —promise to stir things up.

Noticeably missing this time around are Sara Ramírez (Che Diaz) and Karen Pittman (Nya Wallace). And despite continued fan hopes, Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones will not be making a return, beyond the brief phone cameo we saw last season. Cattrall even shut down return rumors herself, responding on X (formerly Twitter), “Aw that’s so kind but I’m not 💋.”

Aiden Is Back! But What About Those 5 Years?

At the end of season 2, Aidan broke hearts everywhere when he told Carrie he needed five years to focus on raising his youngest son. The trailer teases that they’re still in touch—Carrie receives a postcard from him—but her relationship status is now labeled “complicated.”

Still, there are glimpses of Aidan surprising Carrie at her original apartment, and Carrie spending time with him and his kids. But things may not go smoothly: a new neighbor and new romantic possibilities could make things messy—never mind all those RATS!

Series creator Michael Patrick King described the emotional breakup last season to the Hollywood Reporter: “He snaps [his fingers] and says, ‘It’s only five years. We haven’t seen each other in 10 years, and it went by like that (snaps). And five years …’ and he doesn’t snap he says because, ‘I already did and you didn’t see it; that’s how quick it was.’”

It’s a bittersweet scenario, but one Carrie seems determined to write through—literally—as she announced she is working on her debut fiction novel.

Everything Else We Learned from the ‘And Just Like That…’ Season 3 Trailer

From the trailer, fans are already buzzing about major moments—Charlotte walking in on her daughter Lily kissing a boy, Miranda diving back into the dating pool post-Che with a “work contact” we met at the end of season 2, and plenty of summer-in-the-city glam.

Carrie’s signature voiceover hints at a new theme for the season: “When the plot twists, we can choose to embrace a new chapter.”

You can watch “And Just Like That…” season 3 starting May 29 on Max. New episodes air every Thursday through August 14.
