Andrew Garfield starred in two The Amazing Spider-Man films, and though his stint as the Marvel character was short-lived, his portrayal of the character is loved by most. Recently, Garfield said he’s open to returning as the web-slinger, but only if it’s in the animated Spider-Verse films.

This isn’t the first time Garfield has shared his fondness for Miles Morales’ multiverse! At the Middle East Film & Comic Con (via Entertainment Weekly), he told fans that he’s eager to reprise the role, but would only do it if it’s “something very unique and offbeat and surprising.”
Then he went on to praise the features, saying, “the creative freedom they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies,” citing it as an example of the kind of project he’d like to star in. Though he was subtle here, Garfield has now finally made it known that he’s more than game for playing an animated version of himself.
But is this even possible, and do the fans want it? Let’s find out!
Could Andrew Garfield Appear in Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse?
The actor’s direct praise for producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative duo, has everyone wondering if Sony might take the hint. Interestingly, Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker has already (sort of, kind of) appeared in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Here’s an overview of all movies featuring Garfield’s Spider-Man:
| Title | Appearance |
| The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) | Lead Role. |
| The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) | Lead Role. |
| Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) | Reprised Role in Multiverse Crossover. |
| Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) | Brief archival footage from The Amazing Spider-Man. |
During the multiverse explanation scene, there were snippets of Garfield’s character and even Tobey Maguire’s Peter. It featured moments of their grief and loss, and was lifted straight from the archives, not re-animated.
Andy Leviton, one of the editors, explained how they used Sony’s footage rather than any new material. He also confirmed that Garfield’s brief inclusion was always meant to remain live-action since they’re showing a recorded hologram of another universe (via Toonado).
This suggests that Garfield’s Spider-Man might not get animated anytime soon. But given his open admiration and the creative risks that Spider-Verse films have taken so far, a crossover moment doesn’t seem far-fetched.

I honestly think bringing in any more live-action cameos into the animated Spider-Verse trilogy would be a mistake. Into the Spider-Verse was groundbreaking because of its animation and its focus on Miles’ story, not just fan service.

yeah, because what we all really want is andrew garfield’s emo spider-man to swing into the multiverse and ruin everything

However, others who dislike Garfield’s version want him to stay away from the features. Moreover, Miles Morales fans don’t want the focus to shift to another Spider-Man because the story belongs to him, which is only fair.
But what’s your take on this? Would you like to see Garfield in the Spider-Verse or not?
